anyone convert their CC to a sleeper?

Take a look at vans in junkyards. Many of the conversion vans have fold down bench seats in the rear, designed specifically for sleeping. They are very well made and some have drawers under the seat. I've seen a dozen, and they are as cheap as $25.

Stil lstruggling with this stuck glow tip

You may not have room, but I removed mine using a cordless drill and a 90 degree chuck attachment. The attachment jaws clamped to the glow plug, the shaft of the attachment was clamped into the drill. Lots of Kroil and GENTLE pulling pressure while keeping rpms around 200. Worked great, but...

How Are the Uhaul parts working???

Can't comment of UHaul's IPs, but their rubber parts, like hoses and belts, are crap. They may sell them as New, Old Stock, but after sitting on a shelf for 10+ years, they only last a few months in service before massive failure.

    E350 15 passenger Van Questions

When I first started driving my E350, I was really concerned about a rollover accident, especially because I had a large raised fiberglas roof that weighed 200+ lbs. Having driving several E350s over the years as daily drivers, all with raised roofs, I've become comfortable driving them...

    E350 15 passenger Van Questions

Many of the wheelchair vehicles I've seen, including mine, use a short section of E-Trak bolted to the floor. A locking bar, that attaches to many standard wheelchairs, has straps that clip into the E-Trak. Simple, strong, easy to use, and the E-Trak is not in the way of moving people and...

    E350 15 passenger Van Questions

Living in the desert southwest, I haven't had the opportunity to drive my van on tall wet grass. But, we do get 11" of snow a year, sometimes much more than that, and the nearby mountains get much much more snow. My E350, extended-length, with raised roof, weighes around 6500 lbs empty...

BRAZING repair to fuel tankTECH 101

Your sarcasm is well noted. Just an observation here... In my area, lots of perfectly good parts, many with only cosmetic blemishes, are being crushed daily for scrap metal. Near new fuel tanks are $20. Shipping from New Mexico to Canada might be what? $30 by UPS? Is this...

    Carter vs. Facet

Got one van running a p4070 for the past 2.5 years, never had a problem, It puts out 8psi at the IP at idle, down to 3psi wide open. It is pulling fuel through the factory filter, and pushing it through a second filter at the IP.

Adding Pop Top to E350, removing medical van cap -anyone done this?

I've removed one hitop, and installed two hitops on regular vans, but not a poptop. Removal is pretty easy. Often just a continuous row of screws or rivets around the lower edge. Some of the larger tops have steel tubing welded to the OEM roof. If the poptop is not new, you may want...

    Oversized Fuel Tanks?

For vans? I've already searched for "van fuel tank" and 99% of the threads are about trucks. This is a great forum, for trucks. E350 IDI van info is pretty sparse, both here and on other Ford forums..

    Oversized Fuel Tanks?

If you have some average fabrication skills, you can move the exhaust pipe outside the frame, which opens up an area large enough to hang another OEM 38gal van fuel tank. I've also found a 40 gal tank from a Chevy van fits perfectly inside the area occupied by the spare tire. You'll have to...

    Yep, what he said.

Introduction..new to 7.3 IDI and diesels, not new to Fords

Here in NM, the junkyard vans are almost completely rust free, and a big section of floor would cost around $25. The problem would be cutting it out with a cordless saw, and shipping it to you. Personally, since the floor would be covered with carpet anyway, I'd just weld in a big piece of...

    Sacramento ca cl find

Why does it cost $1300 to register it? I'm looking at possibly taking a job in CA, and don't want to get hosed like that. I'm finding that CA will squeeze every freakin dollar out of me in a dozen different ways, as soon as I hit the 30-day in-state time limit. It cost me $200 to...

I think I broke my IDI

I don't have a pyrometer. Overheating is a definite possibility. The roads were narrow, no shoulder big enough to pull over and let traffic pass, and I was trying not to slow down the group of cars stuck behind me. I'll try to get a compression check done this weekend. Thanks.

I think I broke my IDI

The smoke is very black, and it smokes with just the slightest push on the throttle. The injectors are new Delphi BB codes, and I did pop test them before install, and all were 1850-1900psi. Guess I'll test them again this weekend. The injection pump is a rebuild, unknown miles...

I think I broke my IDI

Its a 1994 E350 extended van with raised roof, non turbo 7.3, e4OD, and had excellent maintenance it's entire life. 190K miles, rebuilt transmission. New injectors last week. It was a sweet running vehicle, plenty of power and I had to stomp on the fuel to get even a little smoke...

    Van conversion

too bad. Down here in central NM, even the exhaust pipes last for the life of the vehicle. Very rare to see any body rust, unless the vehicle came from some other state, or it is 25+ years old. With the E350 IDI, noise really isn't an issue when everything is working right. Engine...

    Van conversion

If that doesn't work out, here's a 89 IDI E350 van with a raised roof, going to auction July 21. http://www.auctionflex.com/showlot.ap?co=6628&weid=24839&weiid=9116472&archive=n&lso=lotnumasc&pagenum=1&lang=En

    sudden excessive rattle

My friend's IDI has had the exact same rattle. A rebuilt pensacola pump and injectors were installed in 2010, and engine was timed by ear. The rattle has only occurred twice, in late 2011 and early 2012. Both times it sounded like someone was pouring a bucket of old bottle caps onto a tin...

    Remote Mount Batteries?

On my 94 E350 Club Wagon, I plan to move the exhaust to the outer side of the frame and add a 2nd fuel tank and remote battery boxes inside the frame. I have a bunch of stainless aircraft battery boxes and will weld up a simple bracket to hold the boxes. The boxes will keep the rocks, rain...

Is there a part number for this kit? The guy I talked to is an admin type, and wouldn't know a wrench from a screwdriver.

Help me nab some dealer IDI tools...

Local dealership employee says they are getting rid of older tool sets, Rotunda, etc. What should I get? Anyone know the part numbers of common IDI tool sets? I'd like to keep my IDI on the road for the next 10-20 years. I'll use ebay past prices to make a fair offer. Thanks...

Do the u-haul fuel tanks have showerhead issues?

My 1994 E350 7.3 IDI has the showerhead. The two ex UHauls I've looked at had the same tank as my E350. When I removed the tank, the black plastic head was gone (dissolved?) and the plastic pickup screen, normally attached to the bottom of the head, was sitting on the bottom of the tank...

    diesel van anyone?

Ehh, I got a few IDI E350s. I'm good. Probably gonna sell the 460 though. Having worked on aircraft, I don't find these difficult to work on at all.
