Very cool rollback. Just wondering: what's the powertrain? I'm guessing stock that should have come with a normally aspirated 6.9 with a T-19, PTO coming out of the transmission?
I thought the lower EGT and response were pretty nice results, especially considering folks who might not want to do an intercooler.
By the way: the filtration of the Donaldson 6.0 filter is considered to be some of the finest available, even being a 20 year old design. If you want to make...
Kudos to staying with it when this install kept adding parts and money. Great documentation and pics too
I wonder how feasible this would be on an OBS truck. Any comments on whether you think this would fit in an OBS engine compartment?
My buddies 6.7 Ram just lost the wastegate actuator, apparently from not ever exercising the exhaust brake. After doing goofy boost stuff for a while, it gave him a check engine light and wouldn’t make any power. >$1000 for the replacement part, and the truck was inoperable until he replaced...
Unless all the fins are paper thin and turn to dust when you lightly run a finger over them, I would try to keep the old radiator if at all possible. I would pull it out using lots of caution, an extra set of hands, and cardboard covering front and rear fin areas to prevent any "whoopsies" as...
Sweet rig. Keep it normally aspirated or find somebody very small, double jointed or both when you need to work on it. I love driving and camping in vans, but I’d rather gather snake venom than work on a van. Working on a turbo’d van is like gathering snake venom in a dark closet.
As a friend of mine likes to say concerning any “pre-carnage”: this factoid seems suspect.
I’ll bet two dozen chicken wings there are bulged, broken or missing springs on your DMF. Pictures will be required please.
Just found out that my buddy’s son is moving. I’ll delete the other thread as soon as I can figure out how but I thought a fresh thread might get more interest.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Just keep in mind when you are looking for old NOS parts that have seals or diaphragms in them, the shelf life definitely matters. Better original built quality vs. the potential for a dried up seal and/or crusty mating surfaces.
After a couple of days to observe, I can tell you that the bar and chain oil definitely has a tendency to drip if overapplied just a bit. I think you've got the perfect recipe with the wool wax/bar n chain oil mixture. Now you just have to find a couple of friends to split the 5 gallon bucket...
You are pulling air in from some leak in fuel system. If you want to verify, do a quick search on "clear fuel line" and you'll get an idea of how to install a clear plastic line so you can see the bubbles from the air intrusion.
Last question: what's your fuel gage reading? Might be as...
If there was a "sexiest driveshaft" category, I think you would have a legitimate contestant.
Just wondering: what driveline shop in the greater Portlandia area put that together for you?
Resurrecting this thread. I used one can of fluid film on the front frame section on my truck. I think it stuck pretty well, I can see the wax/stays where you put it advantage, but I wasn't crazy about the coverage and I felt like it would have taken 5 cans to do what I wanted to do on my...
It’s unlikely that you have one cylinder that’s got varnished rings, but it’s not impossible. I recommend AutoRX as one of the only fix in a bottle I’ve ever used with excellent results every time. It’s hard to find, but worth it for applications where you need a slow but effective cleaning...
I say put it off to the side. I think it looks like "I need airflow and I mean business" :fight:
If it's cool enough for a Raptor, it cool enough for your warmed over bricknose!
Others will chime in I’m sure, but I’ve installed lots of shocks including Monroe Gas Magnums. Your performance description is typical.
IMNSHO, when it comes to these trucks, you can buy Bilsteins or spend less and get less performance.
