Justin's work at R&D is pretty top notch. How long can you could live with your truck being down? If I used it to make money, I would run it but stay as far away from the rev limiter as possible. It's a gamble, and know that if you get some interference with that valve and the piston, it will...
First and foremost: hang in there, keep your head up and keep looking for solutions. Lots of things possible for able bodied/knowledgeable folks and I think you have those two things covered.
Keep in mind the rig you are considering selling is one of the most sought after bricknose trucks...
Nice work JF. The lefty throttles were popular on mountain snowmobiles in the Northwest, particularly for sidehilling. Way to show off your hoarding and fabrication skills ;Sweet
A friend of mine has an opportunity to acquire a 6 cylinder Cummins diesel in a towmotor. It sounds like it got the small individual valve covers and it's tan in color. Anybody over on this side know how to identify what generation Cummins this is (maybe by the injector pump?) and whether or...
I agree it sounds like a torque converter issue. Hopefully it didn't fill your trans with metal, I'd pull the pan and see what's stuck to the magnet. If the pan doesn't show anything terrible maybe just a torque converter will fix you up? Hopefully the resident E4OD expert will chime in with...
Very sad news indeed. I feel privileged to have known Russ as I would put him in the truly wonderful people I could call a friend category. Hard to see really good folks leave this world too soon.
Welcome to OB. Durability and parts cost will be very cheap compared to Cat and Dmax stuff. If yours is stock and normally aspirated it won't win any races but the simplicity and durability will be pretty hard to beat.
Ask lots of questions, everybody here is pretty helpful and as a general...
IDI injectors from a company that has no feedback is most likely your issue. I would pull them and start over based on past experience with other injector suppliers. Order a set from RussRepair, lots of folks on this forum who would vouch for him personally. Keep at it, you'll get it running...
If you want to do this on your own, do yourself a favor and go -5 male ORB to -6 JIC male, then make your turn and hose connection with a corresponding hose fitting with a female swivel nut. Part number should be a 6-5 F5OX-S (I only speak Parker adapters).
If you really want to make it easy...
There's an oring in there, you have a pretty common symptom, pretty well documented. Google search is your friend: there's some fixes out there that require a tool to hold onto the internal piece while you reseal it...
I have heard that the locker duallys do great regarding traction. The electric lockers are now pretty available/cheap if you have a sterling 10.25 axle. I have a set of chains for my dually, wish you were closer as I’d probably give them to you.
Good luck whichever way you go.
Look at the brake line tee, I believe the vent is built into that tee. If the hose is missing it’s hard to find and I’ll bet you two drinks it’s clogged and causing your wheel end issues.
^ Agree with above on spacers: dont use them on anything with more than 5 lug nuts.
I’ve been running the Dynapros on my dually and they are quiet and grip well. I liked BFGs in the past on my 4wd stuff, but they are loud which is what you get with aggressive tread.
Best of luck. Picking a...
If it's 4WD F350, pretty sure it's got a Dana 60 in the front. Should only be one option for brakes on a D60 front axle. Others with more expertise will chime in, but I think you'll have more of an issue with finding somebody who stocks the rotors and calipers locally, but I think you'll be OK.
One thing I was thinking of was the "holiday 50% off at the Pic-n-Pull", where you really might be able to score the battery tray as well as the air box cheaply. I know that most 6.0 PSDs get parted out before they get to the junkyard, but there's a lot of those trucks out there.
Either way...
