I'd try Fearless Fred Goeske. His stuff is top notch and custom/built to order.

Take a look at your oil level. If the mechanical pump goes bad it could put some fuel in the oil, which would be an easy diagnosis. I’m the mean time, you could run a simple and temporary electric pump in place of your mechanical pump as they are a lot more tolerant to air intrusion.
+1 on a compression test. I have seen lots of 460s with bad oil control rings that run but drink lots of oil. Prices are insane these days, if it were me I'd be looking for a single cab without any options as they are the only thing that seem to be remotely reasonable. Depending on the size...
^ What IDIBronco said above, only I would not expect a ton of support from Banks or Hypermax. I would look at russrepair.com, R&D Performance at idiperformance.com or classicdieseldesigns.com.
By the way: welcome to OB.
Just wondering how you came to this clutch kit versus say something from South Bend? I'm interested to see how it holds as well, just wondering if you know who the manufacturer of the Summit clutch kits is. I see it has a one year warranty: at least if you smoke it on the dyno they should give...
My old red and white truck was pretty similar to your truck, but with 4.10 gears. My injector pump and injectors were very new when I got the truck and I think it ran really well for a normally aspirated IDI. IMHO, 37s are too much with 3.55 gears. My truck was fine around town, but point it...
Passing this along for anybody who needs an oil change for their IDI. I got a 2.5 gallon jug of Mobile Delvac Super 1300 at Wally World for $31.67, which qualifies for a $10 prepaid Visa card. When you sign up online, they give you another $5 Visa card. That's 2.5 gallons for $16.67 plus tax...
Plan A: Treat it like a Covid recovery: Plan conservatively for two more years and keep double clutching :joker:
Plan B: I’d investigate and look for the gasser variant as it’s supposed to have a better gear spread. I also think you’ll have a lot more luck finding a decent used one as I’m...
Top notch write up David85 :thanks:. If the border was open, I'd drive up and buy you a two four of Kokanee to celebrate the successful conclusion of your factory E-Locker investigation confirmation
Just wondering: being that you bought your unit used, did you get any history on...
The 99 is a great 7.3 powerstroke, but keep in mind that the swap to an OBS will be challenging as the 99 vehicle harness is very different from the OBS you want to put it in.
Good luck whichever way you go.
This truck deserves an IDI conversion. Single cab dually F350s really are a great looking rig, and being a 1981, you'd have a true "built the unicorn" dually.

I used AutoRX in a couple of different engines including my 7.3 IDI at 220K miles. Give this a read, and don't give up on your truck just yet: you've got a bunch of really good and willing folks who will help you out here on OBs...
Put the year and details of your truck in your signature. Beware of the center hole diameter as well as the type of lug nuts. Gnathv's post above is correct: the only factory aluminum wheels that were offered on an OBS (1992-1997) were the Alcoa rims. There are others that will fit a Ford...
Yes, it’s a diesel, 147K on it. Normally aspirated 6.9 IDI with a C6 automatic behind it. It’s a little confusing as it’s an XL, but it’s got all the options (a/c, power windows, power locks, cruise control, tilt wheel) plus all the Centurion extras like the wood trim on the doors and center...
I’m certain somebody with more experience and knowledge will chime in, but I’m guessing you need a speed sensor to provide feedback for the transmission control module on an E4OD and maybe the speedometer depending on the year. I think you can get a signal off of the rear axle and/or the...
Thanks. I’m not sure I’d call it amazing, just rare these days to find a one owner, very close to completely original exterior with a period correct camper top.
Pretty nice, pretty clean Bullnose Centurion F250. Some folks have been pestering me about selling my dually, and this was a pretty neat truck that probably suits my needs better than my PSD. It hasn't been licensed since 2017, and I had to put a starter in it but I drove it home today.
Much thanks to the folks in this thread. Putting a stud in the top makes this job really easy as the starter "hangs" from it. I can honestly say I'll never fight with a starter again on an IDI or a 390 Ford ever again without making an investment in a stud. For the record, I couldn't find a...
 That is a fantastic price. You should pull everything you can off that truck as a guy who installs a GV probably cared about the rest of his truck too.
This is a pretty good lead, only every slipping clutch I’ve ever been around stunk liked burning friction material. I still like the clutch as a suspect theory.
