Picked up some goods tonight.... $50 paintjob ftw.
Matte finish and as close to camo tan as they could get it. Guys at my local hardware store are great. Going to smooth out the paint on the the truck the best I can and roll it on. A buddy of mine just did the same in a...
I mean flush with the top of the bumper so it won't have anything in front of the grill. I would remove it totally but the hardware is shot and I can't get to it to cut it off.
I'll cut off the headlight guards first and post a pic to give you an idea of what it'll look like. This one is...
How were you wanting to cut yours? I'm considering cutting it almost completely off flush with the bumper and leave the pushers on the front... But I can do it in sections and take pics if you want.
More progress... slowly but surely...
The other day, I was a bit concerned with the harsh rattle this engine had when started cold (no glow plugs, no cold advance or high idle). I finally got around to putting the meter on it and it was running at 16 deg. advance. Might explain the...
A simple test for the injectors would be to swap cylinders and see if the noise follows. Justin did have some issues with injectors recently and he'll take care of you if thats the case. He very well may just send you a new set with a phone call.
Did you make sure the old copper crush...
Glow plugs are new motorcrafts and run time was minimal. I had them out when I pulled the heads and they looked fine.
So, I put the meter on it tonight which I hadn't done since pulling the heads... Low and behold, it was almost 16° advanced.
I pulled the timing back to 8.5° and set idle...
Hey guys...
Just put a new 4 core champion radiator in my f350 and was considering using the trans cooler in the radiator to heat the fuel as it is currently unused. Also, my fuel bowl heater is dead.
I know it wouldn't be optimal and wouldn't transfer 100% of the heat, however in theory...
Pump was removed when heads were replaced. The engine made the same noise prior to pulling heads however. This engine has only been in the truck a few weeks. Valve guides were bad so hears were replaced.
Before pulling the heads, I put the timing meter on it as it had the harsh rattle all...
160k on bottom end... fresh heads, gaskets, etc... Engine did the same with the original heads on it. Engine has only been in the truck a few weeks.
Seems to run great... no smoke/haze, no odd noises other then the timing rattle... no oil usage or blow by.
Ether yes... just a light tap on the nozzle... Baiscally just enough to put a sniff in the intake is all it takes to kick it over. Only reason I didn't consider this as a cause as the sound lasts for 30 seconds or so and it doesn't have that ether "knock" to it. The sound is basically...
I was talking about the hydraulic hose which I looked it up and it is rated for 212F. With oil flowing through it at close to those temps, it would probably be wise to check the exterior of the hose with a IR temp gun to make sure it isnt getting too hot.
212F is maximum working temperature...
I'd say it's less of a concern when using the manifold on top of the charger as that puts a bit of space between the charger and line...
Something else, on water cooled chargers, most use rubber coolant supply lines. Some also use rubber oil return lines directly on the cartridge.
It...
huh? You lost me on that one... Not talking about gear rollover or chatter. This is definitely coming from the injectors/pump... I'll see if I can get a video of it or something that sounds close.
When we did the install on a buddy's truck, his kit was missing the feed line. We went down to the local tractor supply and picked up a 3/8" hydraulic hose and swivel reducers for the block and charger manifold. Hose has a working pressure of 5k psi and was only $12 or so.
1/4" would...
Shouldn't be. I'm almost certain its fuel/timing related as it gets worse when I put power to the advance. Sounds identical to a truck that belongs to a friend of mine when he over advanced the timing. Mine goes away after a few seconds and it sounds normal which was leading me to believe its...
