Well.. the stock gauges are a joke so dont rely on those. Get some mechanical gauges on it.
I dont think the fan clutch fully locks til over 230.. not 100% certain on that.
If you are pulling... I'd probably say 65 or so would be fine. Just keep an eye on things. The RPM isnt going...
At 70, based on math, you'll be turning close to 2800 with the C6, 4.10s, and ~35" tires.
You should be fine. Keep in mind there isnt much load cruising down the interstate so keep EGTs and coolant temp in check and go with it.
Personally, I would go a different route.
Just for the sake of safety and me not liking routing all of the engine's oil flow through a cooler... I think a good way of doing it would be to build a bypass oil filter setup and put the cooler after the filter. That way if a line fails, you...
Well... had a fun day yesterday as I got to learn how to install a windshield.
Called a shop to have them come out and put one in while I was at work. They showed up and cut out my old glass no issue but they found some surface rust on the pinch weld and said they couldnt install the new...
Did a bit of hunting on the noise. Not coming from anything up top. Only makes the noise while cranking and is coming from down low on the passenger side (around the starter). I'm wondering if it chipped a gear in the reduction box on the starter.
I climbed under it this morning when I got to work and all looks normal. Nothing loose and no odd wear on teeth. Its never made this noise and now it does it every time I start it.
When I get home, I'm going to disconnect the IP power feed and see if I can track down where its coming from...
Hey guys...
Got in my truck to leave for work and noticed a new sound. While cranking, there is a distinct tapping noise coming from the bell housing. Doesn't make the noise while running.
Has newer starter and an Luk single mass conversion.
Anyone else have this issue? Almost sounds...
Completely understand. I don't run a shop but I do a good bit of work on the side out of my garage. Thankfully, my customers are pretty easy going about things so I can put them off a few days to save them some money and get a better quality part.
Run away from Four Seasons. That's the...
Ive had good luck with their NEW compressors... I don't buy any compressor that's "Reman" unless its an OEM (ac delco, motorcraft, etc..). I had 4 parts store remans blow apart on me in a week before they gave me the CW "New" compressor. Worked great until I sold it.
Rockauto OEM would...
I like using our small pump (BBC tapped for 1"not driven by 1/4hp electric motor) for drums and what not.. but emptying 275 or 330gallon totes would take an hour or more.
Most of our pickups have big totes now and this trash pump will drain one in 5-10 minutes. Time is money... lol
Its possible. I know that when the pump wasnt completely free of air, it was slow and what not. It took a bit to figure out how to get it fully primed and running smoothly. Once all of the air was purged, it was similar to holding onto a fire hose. Had quite a bit of force behind it and was...
Ok... so did some testing today as we had a tote we needed to relocate. I must say, I love this pump! We didnt want to waste time/money on building a suction wand or getting valves yet so we still need to do that... but now that we know it works, we'll work out some little bugs.
Click...
I wouldnt break them loose...
I would use the ARP lube... torque to spec in sequence. If you feel the need, give it a heat cycle and then go through the sequence again at full torque (just to make sure nothing lost clamping force during the heat cycle). Other then that, dont see much...
I'm curious if you had an air leak on the suction side or something... it's just odd that wvo guys swear by them (even in cold weather) but it wouldn't work trying to pull wmo...
The pump I've got has a check valve built into the inlet. Plan is to build a 1.5" PVC wand perforated with...
Honestly, I don't know... lol. I've had one of these pumps seize before when picking up some oil... damn near broke my wrist (powering it with a cordless 1/2" drill at that time). I'd say if that happened with a gas engine, the coupler between the pump and engine would become shrapnel...
I've looked into it quite a bit... only problem is we are doing large volume pick-ups and I cant find a decent size tank for a reasonable price. I cant spend 800+ on a used propane tank (about the going rate around here sadly).
We bought the 2" version of that pump a few months back on...
What issues did you have with yours? All the reading Ive been doing (mostly wvo guys) say they work really well... Hoping we didnt waste our money. Lol
Anyone using a gas powered 2" trash/semi trash pump to pick-up waste oil?
I thought I had seen a few members on here doing it but wanted to see if anyone was having luck with it...
We picked up a 2" pump (semi-trash rated) for cheap and haven't tested it as of yet.
Input?
Are you set on a fullsize bus? You can get the IDI powered 1 ton buses (actually know someone who has one forsale right now) and they love to drink the waste oil... lol
What I like to do with any project car thats been sitting for years... Go get a box of house bug bombs... Roll the windows up... sit the truck out in the open and set off 1 or 2 of them inside the truck with everything sealed up (make sure batteries are unhooked). They wont cause damage...
Done and everything is working...
I had to add a bulb and hardwire the alternator charge indicator as I quickly discovered that the alternator wont charge without it. Lol... But thats fixed.
Also got a tach sender on the way as mine is (obviously) toast. Hopefully the tach still...
Just build a nice heavy set of sliders into them that are tied into the frame... something that can support the weight of the truck if it hits an obstacle.
Look really slick.
