I may just take it to a shop and have them weld that bung onto the exhaust pipe. if I have them weld it right where the exhaust pipe connects to the manifold it should still give an accurate reading
So I got the r606-6 kit because I liked the big 3in gauge but it came with the r650 thermocouple. The probe is 1/4 diameter, 2.1 inches long, is a 1/2in npt and it came with a bung to weld to the exhaust pipe. I thought it was going to be the standard 1/8 probe. Is there any adapters that I...
At 400$ after I send my original in they are the most expensive I have seen. I don't doubt there quality but there just a bit to expensive. I found a place called accuratediesel and it's only 280 after I send the originals in but I don't know how good of quality they are
That's alright I have have some old ones I'll just make the id smaller until it seals good. I was just hoping someone had the factory dimensions as the plastic ones tend to expand and warp over time.
Does anyone have the exact dimensions for the return caps on the idi a blueprint would be best. I'm in school to be a machinest and there's a 4 axis cnc so I'm going to be making them out of aluminum and if the demand is high enough I might even try to sell a few sets.
What about the ford c3 power steering pump can they be fitted on an idi. They flow a lot more and have a lot more pressure. There a rotary vane style pump so they should be a lot more reliable.
A little of topic but today I was able to get my truck up to 55 I used a gps speedometer and in 5th gear it was doing about 2000rpm. That's shows to be a 4.56 gear as I have 33in tires the axle was out of a 08 f250 did they come with 4.56 gears. When I had the diff cover off I saw 410 on the...
Yea it seems the newer ones are way easier to find it's just a matter of redoing the bolt pattern and adjusting the rod length. I think I might go that route simply for ease of finding them. The only thing I need to figure out is the hydraulic lines
It seems the old hydroboost are starting to get kind of rare and expensive. The rebuilds are going for between 250-300 meanwhile I can get a brand new booster for a 2018 truck for 190$.
I forgot about the safety factor that power steering provides. The roads around me are not good and there's a lot of pot holes. So that kind of rules out the manual gearbox. It seems the brand's mentioned earlier redhead and bluetop make the best boxes but man are they expensive. I could buy 2-3...
The manual box takes 6.25-6.5 turns lock to lock so the ratio should be like 26:1 while the factory is like 16:1 so I imagine it would be a lot easier to turn compared to the original with the pump off.
Well what I was thinking is that the lares box should be much lower geared than the factory power steering box so it should be a lot easier to turn but I dont know what the ratio is. If it it lower geared I could also bolt some kind of extention to the steering wheel increasing the diameter...
I think it would be cool to get rid of the power steering entirely. I could also always add an extension to the steering wheel to make it even easier to turn. I'm a big fan of simplicity and this is very simple.
I found something interesting on oriely auto parts website. When looking at gearboxes for my 93 f350 they have a manual gearbox. Lares Corp manual geabox. It says it fits my year truck anybody know anything about them. It says 6.5 turns lock to lock so it sounds like it's got enough gear ratio...
From the steering wheel to the steering box there is zero play surprisingly it's all in the box. My truck is actually only 2wd. I was wanting to get rid of the slop plus I think the has power steering leak I have is somewhere around the box. So I figured if I'm going to go through the trouble of...
