    Rear shock angle?

I was thinking about just bending the top. I dont think it would be to hard with a big wrench and some heat

    Rear shock angle?

I wouldnt say there in a bind they could still move freely throughout the travel they would just be twisted in the shock a little. Im not sure in there origanally like that or not but there at a slight angle torwards the tire.

    Rear shock angle?

So im finally doing the rear shocks in this thing. The 08 axle shock brackets were welded on so after grinding them off and seeing were my new ones are going to go i noticed the upper shocks mount has the shocks pointing at an outward angle making it difficult to line up my straight brackets. So...

    Inaccurate tach?

Crazy how far off they are. I was thinking of trying to put in a real oil pressure and volt gauge where the factory ones go. Might as well try and do a tach as well.

    Inaccurate tach?

At 55mph according to the calculator I should be at 1750rpm but the gauge is reading around 2050

    Inaccurate tach?

So according to the gear calculator my tach is reading a few hundred rpm high. I have a zf5 close ratio. When I had the diff cover off it said 4.10 on the gear and I have a 33in tire

    Wheel bearing tightness?

Are there any rubber bushings in there.

    Wheel bearing tightness?

oh wow i didnt realise it was such an important bolt crazy thing is both sides are loose. i should probably try to tighten those up
  9. D

    Wheel bearing tightness?

Well, while I was under there today I checked every rivet, bolt, and mount and everything was tight. I did find one thing that might be loose, the lower spring mount, the big washer I could just jiggle around and was very loose. I'm guessing it's supposed to be right and not loose

    Wheel bearing tightness?

I don't think I could get the caliper pins upside down l. Speaking of those pins one fell out on the way to town today grinding a lovely Grove into my room. If it ain't one thing it's another. I stuck a tight fitting bolt in there until tomorrow when I can get some new pins

    Wheel bearing tightness?

In order to get the radius arm out I'd have to undo the swaybar the shock and the spring then I would have to hope a wrachet strap would be enough to get the axle forward enough otherwise I'd also have to undo the axle pivot bolt. Or I just grind off 2 rivets

    Wheel bearing tightness?

Interesting, theres only 2 rivets on my truck the other 2 are bolts i cant imagine it would be to hard to punch out 2 rivets. I think this way will be easier and faster.

    Wheel bearing tightness?

The first thing ill start on is the radius arm bushings. Unfortunately the bracket is riveted and not bolted. Would it be better to just grind off and punch the rivets out or to unbolt the whole front end and move the axle forward. Im never able to have the truck down for very long so i was...

    Wheel bearing tightness?

I wouldnt say its a rotational noise. it does get louder as speed increases but the pitch doesnt really change.

    Wheel bearing tightness?

there is no steering dampner but yeah when i hit bad bumps or go over the railroad tracks the steering wheel starts shaking and vibrating like crazy.

    Wheel bearing tightness?

I did buy all new bushings, ball joints, and shocks. So maybe after rebuilding the front end things might get better.
  17. D

    Wheel bearing tightness?

Its possible the other side is bad but it really sounds like its coming from the driver side
  18. D

    Wheel bearing tightness?

Brake pads are even with the rotor theres no excessive heat or drag. im actually supprised at how little drag there is
  19. D

    Wheel bearing tightness?

im starting to think about just trying to get rid of the TTB and go to a solid axle. since i bought the truck the front end has made so many crazy noises and the uneven tire wear is so bad one side is basically brand new while the other side is totally bald. the passanger side is a little worse...

    Wheel bearing tightness?

    1. I replaced the wheel bearing as i was hearing and feeling some major rubbing/grinding and sure enough the inner bearing was seized 2. Truck is 2wd 3/4. caliper and rotor came off its the only way to replace the bearings. 5. I replaced the inner and outer bearings on the driver side. 6. Yes i...

    Wheel bearing tightness?

yep i made sure the cups were pressed in as far as they would go

    Wheel bearing tightness?

I jacked it up and turned that wheel and nothing, no unusual noise, spins free and smooth, theres a very small amount of play if i forcefully move the tire but thats it. The noise is very concerning and it sounds like the whole truck is just going to fall apart
  23. D

    Wheel bearing tightness?

ok, i dont know if iv done something wrong or if its just a new noise that has popped up. There is a loud banging/popping sound coming from the side i put the new wheel bearing on. there also is like a high pitch tinging sound. It doesnt do it at slow speed unless you hit a bump and its real bad...

    Wheel bearing tightness?

Yea I'm talking about the front. Spinning the tire it feels real smooth. Hard to tell weather it's the brakes dragging but it spins fairly freely
  25. D

    Wheel bearing tightness?

I tightened them up snug to seat them backed off then finger tightened them and spun the wheel. But I could still feel a slight wobble in the wheel so I used some channel locks and turned the nut a tiny bit at a time until I could feel no play. The wheel spins free and I couldn't feel any extra...
