    Turbo Turbine: Replace?

I had a 6.0L turbo like that, I wrapped a cloth around the turbine and held it while undo the compressor nut, it work but hurt the hand a bit.

    10.25 LSD rebuild

The 8.8 and 10.25 are very similar in design expect you don’t have to deal with that Z spring that the 8.8 has. The 8.8 I’ve done wasn’t too bad to get everything to go in at once but the 10.25 is way to tight to do it all at once. I found it easier to put everything but the spider gears thrust...

    10.25 LSD rebuild

I’ve rebuilt a few 10.25 lsd, first time was utter hell, second time I figured out that you don’t try and put everything back in at the same time. Pretty easy to take apart, everything rolls out fairly nicely, when you go to put it back together put the side gears with clutches in and roll just...

That’s the back half of the trans which everything is loaded into, your not replacing that easily, requires reshimming the gear set and complete trans tear down. Best bet is to find a place that can weld aluminum and get them to fix it up. Also that is a coming place for the “ears” that the...

Post up your custom fuel pump/filtration setups....

Did it look something like this? I’m not sure exactly what the black stuff is but I know it has a ton of water in it as it’s frozen in a Jerry can right now.

From the video, your blend door is bending when you pull on it, it’s showing me something at the bottom is binding it up. Check/ pull out that off coloured white plastic piece beside the heater core, I’ve seen that bind stuff up before.

Not your Average Dana 60 Swap

Nice to see someone else finally switch over to the superduty Hydroboost and master cylinder. I was running the OBS stuff and didn’t like the feel of the pedal, come to find out that the MC on the superduty is a bit different internally than the older generation. I did the swap a bit...

Hydroboost fitting size and pedal info

I went through this last year, here is all the fittings I know. Power steering pump: Russell 648060 M16-1.5 male o-ring to AN6 (Note: some older power steering pumps use a imperial fitting, 5/8”-18 male o-ring to AN6 Russell 648030) ~80-97 Hydroboost: inlet Russell 648040 11/16”-18 o-ring to...

Suspension choices with pros and cons

Your better off doing a frame swap than trying to r&r the front crossmember, it’s riveted and welded in, whatever front suspension that’s on it to be removed, cab unbolt at the least in the front and a ton of work to just pull it out, then doing all that again on the 4x4 crossmember. If you can...

Suspension choices with pros and cons

460, IDI and Powerstroke all share the same crossmember but the crossmember is different between 2wd and 4x4. The 2wd doesn’t have the indents and holes punched out for the TTB pivot brackets which is going to be the hardest thing to do is make sure everything is perfectly lined up before you...

    Preperations for an Overland/Camp build

That really sounds like you alternator/regulator decided to put out some high voltage. Most after market decks can only take 16v, if your alt was putting out say 24v it would smoke the deck, quadruple the power in the fss and the rest of the truck wouldn’t care as it’s either off or lights...

Balance the rotating assembly on a rebuild?

When I got my engine balanced I brought them a turbo smf and a NA flexplate, they “balanced” everything with the smf first without modifying the flywheel then put the flexplate on and balanced the flexplate to the rotating assembly. Now they did butcher the balance job but they did manage to...

    Leafspring Shackle Questions

The front of the leaf uses a M16 bolt but a 5/8” fits tighter and the rear spring and shackle bolt uses a M14 bolt and 9/16” bolt fits tighter.

Balance the rotating assembly on a rebuild?

If they say weight needs to be added to the crank, run as far and fast as you can! I got mine balanced and they screwed it right up, never using that shop for anything again.

    Hydroboost noise

I had noise like that, steering didn’t make much of a difference but pushing the brake made it louder, I ended up having to get a hose from ps pump to hb unit that had more rubber hose then metal. I tried a russel braided line and that didn’t help and hydraulic hose made it way worse. Make...

    '94 7.3 tachometer

The TECA (E4OD computer) will have a tach output but mite not have the wire populated in the vans. The TECA outputs a buffered tach signal that’s around 7v, on mine it was a jacked up looking signal that floated above ground with a large over shoot on the rising edge. It is still a 54 pulse per...

    Cruise Control?

I’m definitely no EE, just your standard tinkerer, I do know a bit about the cruise control that ford uses (not so much on the programming). Minuumin speed input is 30mph before turning on, max speed was up around 212mph (why!?! Ford???) before it kicked out. They use a stepper motor driving a...

    '94 7.3 tachometer

The signal from the tach sensor is a variable frequency sine wave who’s voltage increases with frequency. The factory tachometer uses a input buffer designed to take the tach signal and convert it to a constant voltage square wave to run into the lm1819 air core meter driver. From there it’s run...

    Cruise Control?

I would just grab the factory electric cruise off of a 92-94 pickup and install it into your van, it’s 7 wires and very easy to install and way better then the vacuum cruise on the earlier trucks. Making a cc unit is no simple task, you need to program it right so it doesn’t act like an on off...

Motorcraft fan clutches from rock auto

I don’t have any new info yet, truck was down for 4 months fixing an engine vibration issue, at the moment I’m just running the fan off a relay and a switch inside the cab till I finish the controller. I don’t think a 6.0L fan would work very well on the idi, flipping it around mite put it into...
