My wright brothers reenactment went pretty well to be honest. I think I flew a bit further than them. I don’t think their mom made them go to the doctor afterwards though LOL
Sorry for my lack of photos. I got a tailhousing for my zf5 on Saturday for 250$, it has a hairline crack in it but it’s nothing serious so I will be able to get it fixed. The transmission guy I’ve always used is super knowledgeable on zf’s and he fixes that type of thing all the time.
I also...
The frame came with a newer rabs valve. I also acquired the junction thing from an f super duty that technically deletes the rabs. Because of the bigger brakes and hydroboost, I’m thinking getting rid of the rabs will eliminate any future issues. What do you guys think?
Purchased the conversion u joint for the front and a flange for the rear end. Didn’t want to use the 10.25 yolk.
Now my main thing is the trac bar mount. Not sure if I’m gonna try to use the super duty one or make something. Definitely not paying 400$ for one that’s for sure.
It rolls! I ordered some stuff just because “while I’m here”. I’m doing the bushings in the leaf springs and sometime this week I’m going to get new U bolts, I’d like to find new blocks. I don’t plan on doing brakes yet because I don’t feel like spending 600$ right now.
Not sure how much you guys will like this but I figure it’ll be pretty cool/subtle. Only on the springs and traction bars. I found some old school polished aluminum diff covers I ordered as well. I absolutely love the stock look with a little bit of magic on trucks. Never really been into big...
Front is pretty much done. Just need to do the trac bar. This weekend I’ll do the rear end. All my springs are from a 6.7. Have to move the rear hanger, but good lord this thing is going to ride nice.
I was only thinking about welding like a half inch bead on each side, not fully welding it. But I ended up just bolting it because everything was already painted.
I’m bad at getting photos when I’m in work mode. Today I got all the brackets mocked up and drilled all the holes. Bought all the bolts I needed (didn’t wanna use up all my grandads). I’m wondering if I should weld a couple beads on all the brackets for that extra assurance, even though I highly...
passenger side brackets all mocked up. Even if I was doing it with the truck all together I’d say the 05+ axle swap is extremely easy. It’s almost fool proof
I wire wheeled it and used a cool little corrosion remover disc that cut through the surface rust real well. I used rustoleum clean metal/light rust primer and then just rustoleum gloss black metal paint. Painted the primer with an air gun and then I rolled the black on. A lot of hot rod guys...
I seriously didn’t think that a roller brush would go on so flat. But it looks so much better than the spray I was using. I used a spray gun for the primer but I didn’t like how finicky it was plus I wasn’t entirely sure how to use it properly. This is also much thicker of coats and it doesn’t...
Just finished hitting the frame with primer. Tomorrow afternoon I’m going to go purchase coil buckets and the rear leaf springs from some guy on Facebook. My goal is to get the frame rolling, then I can start taking apart my truck.
That’s annoying! I really wish they kept the excursion going. Could you imagine a 22’ 6.7 excursion with all the king ranch leather? I know what I’ll dream about tonight now.
