Pulled the fender flares off and found this. Pretty pissed. Wire wheeled it to get a better view. I’ll just cut it out and use the arch from the old bed. Could be worse but for a Cali boy I’m annoyed
So we decided that this frame was slightly tweaked right behind the engine crossmember on the passenger side. In all honesty it probably wouldn’t have been an issue since the trac bar is on the drivers side and the drop brackets are way behind the bent area. But to please me and grandad’s eyes...
Took us 3 hours. Was kinda a pain because there was a lot of bent up ****. I did notice (I don’t know if I should be worried, as of now I’m not really) that my “new” frame is about an inch wider at the front horns. I mean an inch wider than the bumper holes on my truck. So I’m assuming they rear...
I think they’re some sort of tie down thing. And yeah it’s pretty damn straight, It actually looked worse in the pictures he sent me. Most of you have never really seen my truck in person, my bed had a bunch of little dents and stuff from it being a ranch truck.
Got the trac bar all figured out and new pitman arm reamed out for the super duty drag link. On these drag links you gotta cut about an inch off the ends of the threads to align it with the obs steering box.
There’s no way In hell I’d put an 87-97 bed on this. It drives me crazy whenever I see one. I was actually looking at a cheap service bed to tie me over
I think that I found a bed and I’ll go check it out on Saturday. 500$ and it looks really straight. I haven’t really found any good ones that didn’t come with a 2000$ truck lol. And this has all the trim and everything.
I agree, my other grandpa passed away when I was a freshman. In the end he ended up having real bad dementia. As a young kid you don’t really know what to say but looking back now I wish I could tell Bud how much I appreciated all he did and how much I love him. It kinda bothers you a little...
Afterwards I put on his hood and noticed that the darkness was all the way down (it’s electric) and he was like “yeah I couldn’t really see it too well” LOL
No sir this was mig. My grandpa is that guy that I aspire to be like. Incredibly humble and always willing to help. I’m so lucky to have him in my life man
Not super related but our flatbed at work decided to break right where the dovetail is welded onto the frame. So I took it down to my grandad and he welded it up for me while I ate my burrito and I was out of there within an hour and off to pick up the tractor. He said these are his worst welds...
This will be the one part I buy for this axle swap that I didn’t want to build myself. I am extremely impressed with Blowing Diesel. I’m pretty sure it’s a one man show and he does this out of his garage. The quality is fantastic and for a trac bar mount, I wouldn’t want some dinky little flat...
When I swapped from my c6 I was tripping balls about the whole rollover noise thing because I was afraid it’d be too loud. I have the 07-225 kit and it makes a little noise at idle but not much at all. Its extremely loud when I’m lugging through a parking lot in first or second but it’s only...
