    All the synchronizer does is gets the gears up to the same speed when shifting. Has nothing to do with it being stuck in a gear. A broken shift fork is a possibility.

    If you look close you can see that your old gasket stayed on the block. You double gasketed the filter!. Take it and the old gasket off. Put the new stp filter on and it will be fine.

    Fram filters are not that bad. People complain about the non metal end caps but they work fine. Frams paper even in the cheaper filters is very good.

    I agree. Any oil will get contaminated and need to be changed. Unless you add an oil bypass filter setup.

    Weird things people do

    I hate those door buzzers! If a door is open or the key is in the ignition i can figure that out on own. Nothing worse that that blasted buzzer going off while I'm working on the truck. That buzzer is the first thing to go on all my cars.

    valve stem seals and oil consumption

    Bad or missing valve stem seals won't cause that much consumption. Check to see if the turbo is leaking oil. If it' not the engine is due for a rebuild.
