They are so cheesy, but the price was hard to pass up. I wanted 17" wheels, the factory SD 18" wheels seemed kind of odd, like it would be more wheel than tire. They are growing on me the longer I've had them on. Total bro-dozer look with the 37s on them currently.
Finished the bracketry work to get the 2006 Dana 60 mounted. Got some wheels for a good price and tossed them on, I think I'll need to deflate the tires just to clear the garage door when I eventually get this thing moving. Working on getting the 4x4 ZF5 and tcase in next so I can figure out...
I can pull the Alcoas, the bench seat is in excellent shape as well. Will open it up for parting out for a bit before scrapping. Don't really have a way to transport it yet, kind of need the one truck to be running so I can tow it to the scrapyard.
I went ahead and found a wrecked 1993 F350 with a 7.3 factory turbo that runs well. Been working on pulling both motors. I've pulled a Ford 300 before, that was way easier than one of these engines on my slanted driveway. I have no idea how some of y'all are installing one of these with the...
@ihc1470 I doubt I'll ever get my investment back out of these trucks. The knowledge I've gained is priceless, so there is that. As far as a major rebuild, I have zero clue, I've never rebuilt an engine. Might be worth the experience, but one of the reasons I picked the IDI is parts are...
That's the next step, will try that tomorrow. I'm guessing not though, the previous owner said they tried starting fluid as well as bump starting (towed by another truck) to no avail.
There are no glow plugs or injectors currently in the engine and it will not turn over. The solenoid just clicks and will not turn the engine over. The starter is new. I have a line on an engine but unknown condition, just says "was running when pulled". It's only $300 with a C6 attached to...
Picked this new truck up even though I need another project like I need a hole in my head. Cleanest truck I've seen in a while, couldn't pass up the price. The dash isn't even cracked and the paperwork is current. Has a 6.9, older Banks turbo, a T19, GVOD attached to the BW1345 transfer case...
I ran into the opposite problem when installing my ATS turbo. The air cleaner didn't fit because the 6.9 and 7.3 injection lines are different. The flat 6.9 line didn't fit into the ATS air cleaner groove correctly.
Closer injection line set is for 6.9, the one behind is 7.3.
I do not have an air filter housing, but I also didn't want to use an oiled filter, so I picked up an AEM Dryflow unit. Something like this - https://www.amazon.com/AEM-21-2113DK-Universal-DryFlow-Clamp/dp/B002JD0OCA
Gear Vendors unit for a 4X4 pattern C6, ZF5, or E4OD. Fits between transfer case and transmission. Or can be used with a driveline parking brake for 2wd. Just the GVOD, no electronics. Has a deep sump for extra fluid capacity.
$1500 for GVOD
$1800 with a driveline parking brake
