I do not recall what I used. I have both wobble extensions and swivel sockets. If I was guessing it was probably the wobble extensions, Maybe two. I do not recall it being that big of a deal at the time though. I may have used 1/4 inch drive as that does give you a little more room. I recall...
To clear things up some is the truck moving when you notice this and is still there if you push in on the clutch or out it makes no difference, or are you sitting still and have this issue?
Well you will be pulling about 200 amps if you try to light them all at the same time. Take a pretty heavy jumper to do that. If you are trying it that way I would suggest just doing on at a time going through the harness. If it test good them remove from harness and connect another until you...
Star washer. They can be internal or external just depends where you want the teeth. I would look at the cable and block to see where the teeth marks are. Probable does not make much difference but I would go between block and cable.
So do some measuring of voltages then. Start with the batteries. If you have been cranking a lot you would need to charge them up first. Anyway with fully charged batteries what is your voltage reading. Then turn on your lights and HVAC system for maybe a minute turn off and then let it sit for...
So what is the temp in remote Alaska at this time? How fast is the starter cranking the engine? What is the battery voltage after you crank it for 15-20 seconds? Based on what you have said about the glow plug system, block heater, and hot air in the intake, along with the fact you say you have...
Do not recall what I used for tools when I installed mine, was no big deal what ever they were. Biggest issue I ran into was getting the battery cable to bolt up.
Look at the starter closely. Is there a spacer on the nose cone? If so remove the spacer and the starter should work. If no spacer than yes you will need a different starter. Sounds like you have one for a powerstroke.
As was said make sure you are in neutral then you should be able to jump from the battery cable terminal on the starter to the small terminal and it should work if your cables are good. Since you have verified that the starter works on the bench follow through testing it on the truck.
All...
If it was a high pressure line you would see it. A word of caution when working around a diesel fuel system especially if you are looking for leaks. Do not run you hands around the lines! It will inject diesel under you skin, you do not want to go there. Use a piece of cardboard or a mirror...
When you say you are going across post which ones are you going across. You should be going across the terminal that the battery cable connects to and the small terminal. If you are going across to the terminal that goes into the starter that is all it will do; spin it will not throw out the...
Not sure I would put a locker in the front end. This is based on a Steiger tractor that I have with a locker in the front. Great in the summer but when it get's slick in the fall it becomes a real bear to turn. Wants to go straight ahead even when turned to the limit. Might want to do some asking.
1. Charge batteries and then load test to see if they are any good. Repair as needed.
2. Clean battery cable ends.
3. Install batteries connect postive cables on both batteries. Leave negative cable off both batteries. Using a test light go between the negative battery cable and neg post on...
I would agree, for the 15-20 you will have R-Ring the unit to do the other work I can not see where you gain anything moving the filter and then investing in new lines etc. If it is not broke don't fix it.
That looks alot like what an output shaft seal does when they start leaking. Any oil dripping below the driveline after it has sit? What is the oil level like in the transmission?
