    finished fixing ol' LuLuBelle!

Well, I finished replacing the steering gear box on my'89. It steers a whole lot better that before. I still had little slop in the steering which I attributed to the 2 piece steering column. I noticed the 2 piece column had slop when I turned the steering wheel. Knowing it probably needed a...

7.3 temperature gauge dropping under load

Have you checked your fan clutch to make sure it s not locked up like mine. Cant get mine past 165 with a trailer load of cattle and a/c going on a hot june day. Man it makes a horrendous noise like aB-52 on takeoff.

Have someone look at your IP. Out here in flatland Texas, can pull a fully loaded 23" gooseneck livestock trailer down the road, at 65-70 with a/c on. Mind you I have a ZF5 and 4.10 LS rear. Top speed ?? I dont care to know-probably 85 mph but then I'm not looking for speed, just pulling...

    Winter idle

Myself I like to place a large piece of cardboard in front of the radiator to stem the air flow. Works fairly well for me in this mild winter weather we have in Texas. Around here it can get down to 28 degrees in the morning and 85 degrees in the evenings. Its pretty handy for us.

    Wrong again

Well I swapped out a 19 tooth Speedo gear for a 16 tooth gear and it SLOWED DOWN my speedometer reading. I thought a smaller driven gear would spin faster. Apparently NOT!! Sometimes I wonder if I could come in 3rd in a 1 person race! Back to the drawing board my friends

ZF5 Owners I need your help

IF you are running a ZF5 transmission with a 4.10 final diff ratio, I need your help. On the ID plate of the ZF5 there is a speedometer code of some sort. If anyone can provide me with the code on your transmission I would sincerely appreciate it. Ford dealer is not helpful here.

    She just... died....

if you have too many keys on your keys ring, centrifugal force may cause the keys to shut off ignition- just a thought.

    Give me your opinion

Before I dive off and replace my steering gear box, let me ask you this: LuLuBelle was out of work for 6 months. I replaced the clutch set, and when started to drive it around the steering was more stiff than before. Now, to my knowledge this is a steering box issue or is it? Could it be the...

As soon as my $$$ from my second job comes in Ill run out and see what's available. The thing is just leaking like nobody's business. AND it seems to be so much stiffer to turn the steering wheel. probably throw a new P/S pump too. I guess that what I get for letting it sit for 6 months...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Those bucket seats look nice, I prefer bench seats because I can wear my straw hat without hitting the seat back....Besides my sweetie can sit next to me as we drive to the ranch or the range ( same place- different pasture).

    I did it!!

I have installed 2, county them, 2 cup holders to my doors . i plan on making a small console to place in the front seat and have a place for 2 more cupholders. These will be used exclusively for coffee, as I plan on having a 12 volt cup warmer, to go with the seat warmer I have. I plan on...

    Time for a clutch change

Oreillys lists a clutch set that is for a OEM dual mass flywheel, but I believe Ill remove the old clutch first , then purchase the correct kit. So as soon as the Domestic Goddess cuts loose some coin of the Realm, ol' mexicanjoe is gonna twist wrenches one more time.

    Time for a clutch change

Ok guys, It appears my old '89 has a dual mass flywheel that needs changing. I can go to Autozone and purchase a kit. Do I need to change the flywheel to accommodate a single mass clutch replacement? Ive never run across this issue before. Give me heads up on what to look for. This 63 year...

    Engine Running Cold

Your fan clutch could be frozen up and causing the engine to run cooler. The problem I have with my truck, however in the heat of the Texas heat it never gets above 10 degrees pulling a fully loaded 23' livestock trailer ( with the air conditioner on, i might add.)..... Makes a heck of a noise...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I had a VW Rabbit pickup with an 1.5 idi engine. 54 mpg and the most awesome a/c on the planet. My late friend Ron (RIP) was a wizard at a/c and worked his magic on the system. I witnessed 31 degree air from the vents, driving through Mertzon Texas on a 101 degree day! It was so nice to drive...
