    Jesus Freak's WMO tow truck

Remember that @Jesus Freak tales are fiction and solely for entertainment purposes. After this message exchange I took the parts truck off road and smashed one of the mirrors through a tree which I also updated. As we are all men no one will be sue’d for slander, I will take one 2wd c6 in...

7.3 idi runs like an animal on cold advance

this is a good explanation - credit to Justin “ So a quick blast on pump operation from inlet to outlet... Fuel goes in the cone, enters the vane style transfer pump which bumps total hydraulic pressure based on speed (and bleed, but that's tunable). From the transfer pump, it goes 3...

    HElP! I bought Jake_IN 7.3 with a dead cyl

I would set your expectations that this engine needs more machining than it’s worth. I hope it’s simple for you but I think Jake would have fixed it. Easy things you should do are turn it over by hand and feel for any mechanical piston/valve touching, compression test all cylinders and there is...

No way - low mileage and gently used. Never saw rain or winter.

    Project Stress Test

Thanks man - it’s a Holley red pump and a new IP tweaked for this use case. Pretty sure metering valve is sticking. Also adjusting a couple other things regarding return vent and I knocked out the regulator fitting like the big pumps run now.

Comprehensive list of must have tools

IDI specific - extra return cap kit, extra mechanical or electronic fuel pump, IP nut wrench, wrench for injection lines, extra fuel filter. Anything else you can grab at a local parts store.

    Project Stress Test

I tried Aaron’s fan and with no fan, same temp outside, and the air it moved around the block and heads showed a slower climb in temp & certainly validates it’s benefits. I didn’t end up running with it. Engine kept stalling after coming off WOT so have to figure that out tomorrow. Despite...

    Dually differences

I’ve drilled it out before but the drill bits are $50 and at that point you should just buy a new wheel like you did

    Where to cut

If he’s running a turbo pump on an NA engine another contributing factor of his higher EGTs

    Where to cut

It’s an NA IDI, If I understand you correctly, the 2.5” doesn’t matter just run whatever is easier to accomplish what you want. On my bronco I used a new Y you just mentioned and then 2.5” turned down by the passenger door.

    Rebuilding a 7.3 IDI Turbo

You can use gator studs for the IDI which are under $400. Reviews are mixed, I tested them on the engine in my bronco no issues so far.

    Project Stress Test

Choosing not to run one in version 1 IDIs love heat and diesels run cooler, part of my initial thoughts. Rather have hot water in it then a busted radiator and no water.

    Dodge 3500 towing

Nothing like blowing kegger intake manifold gaskets on 5.2/5.9 magnum engines and peering down the butterflies with a flashlight to see a pool of oil. I have to thank magnum engines - because of them I swore off of gas engines in trucks and it resulted in me buying my first idi

Tire dismounting and mounting by hand, IDIBRONCO style

I use a manual tire changer and just did 8 tires this weekend. This thread popped in my mind. For anyone doing it manually the first time I want to emphasize that you read and understand @IDIBRONCO explanation of a drop center in the introduction. If it doesn’t make sense conceptually, when...

    Project Stress Test

I’ve done some testing and I’m estimating to get to 253 degrees of water in the heads which will then start steaming off. Then if that steams off it will essentially be dry blocked for however long.

    Dodge 3500 towing

Most people if they aren’t dodge folks like the Cummins but don’t like the truck around it. I’m relatively indifferent to things. Ford IMO has the best build & price portal and setup for customizing truck orders. I also like how they split the commercial and non-commercial service and sales...

Just use OEM parts. You can get them new/refurbished. I’ve done quite a bit of testing in this space. If you want a list of part numbers let me know.
