When I was working for the Honda, Nissan, Dodge, and GM dealerships around here, SOP was to turn every new drum and rotor regardless of the brand before it went on the vehicle.
There's a reason for that. ;Sweet

I know that some shops have a machine that will turn rotors INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE, so they are true to that position on the car..... new brake drums/rotors can be out of shape due to incorrect handling. When I worked at NAPA years ago, all drums and rotors were stored flat, not stood on edge.... same idea as a clutch fan, they are supposed to be stored in the same orientation as they are installed.

Update...the partshouse is reimbursing the $42.00 spent on cutting the new Drums.
Two new sets were factory cut out of round and they said that was unexceptionable, and it's about making it right for the customer.

I come to find, "Silent Stop" is not the manufacture but a brand-name created by Federated Auto Parts.

Also...as I mentioned prior I did NOT install the second set, I took them to a shop I know and a the fella I know checked both Drums right in front of me...both were bad. I believe .020 +- was cut from both to make right.
