Anyone done it? I don’t have a bullnose tailgate to try and test the the fitment. My trim piece is cracked on the shop truck and the tailgate is pretty rough compared to the rest of the truck. I love look of these older tailgates

Tried a bull to brick didn't work.. The mounts were different. Suppose if you change them it may work.

I read something about spacing the hinges out with washers, but that might have been putting a newer gate on an older bed. If that's the case I'd assume the newer bed to be narrower than the older one.

I do remember that you have to use the hardware for the gate you have since the latches are different.

Hope that helps a little bit lol

Also, the body lines won't quite match.....

Here is the other way 'round to give an idea.....

The bull lines and angles are a bit "sharper"..... just like a Brick/OBS tail light doesn't quite match a bull.....

(Bull is my favorite body style). The lower fender lines on a bull a different from a Brick/OBS

It just screams out at me when a bull has the "wrong" bed...... it's the first thing I notice..

Thanks Scott, my second choice would the tailgate style of the first pic and do away with the trim piece entirely. I guess I’m a bit less ocd so the little differences with the tailgate wouldn’t bother me as much as the stock tailgate with the only real body damage on the truck. I’ve got a bull nose parts truck here so I’ll grab some measurements off the mounts and see if it’s do able. Thanks as always gentlemen

That's not fair on multiple levels. We don't have any affordable OBS tailgates up here let alone bullnose ones. They look so much nicer IMHO

That first picture is a Brick gate, on a bull bed. It wasn’t till the OBS sometime did they get rid of the stamped FORD.......

I think if you got the lariat brick, it still had the Ford stamping but the big chrome trim over it, and if you take the trim off there are massive holes in it.. IIRC

Yes, that is correct.

But, sometime in the OBS run, they switched to a “smooth” tailgate, and just a “blue oval” in the lower right corner..... or I think the higher end packages got the big shiny piece......

Plenty of tailgates here. Biggest problem is keeping the yards from crushing the trucks before you can pull em

The OBS & Brick aluminum center trim piece is difficult to find in a salvage yard (undamaged). Found two in OK shape, not perfect (one red, one black), bought both, put the red one on truck the other is storage just in case. That Bull tailgate & trim might be a nice alternative just to keep folks guessing what year your truck is!
