I run a Duralift 9-12psi on my 6.9 with a stock turbo. Positive and ground wire, and I wired it where the original owner had an electric installed by.... Ford.... strange. But I stopped the air intrusion and now I just need to adjust timing. I’ve only had it for a week but it’s definitely an improvement.
What pump did ford install in the truck? I did mine with a wiring harness from summit and the carter pump only thing I had to come up with was part of a bracket to mount to my filter head. But carter came with a bracket already too.

I lost the fuel pump arm in the block and spent 3 miserable days fishing it out the hole with a harbor freight camera scope and a host of long reach tools. I will never put another mechanical pump on any vehicle again.
Everywhere I read people just leave them down there it can't hit the crankshaft because of a oil baffle that keeps the rods from splashing through oil I believe

There’s no baffle that I remember. It’s just gravity keeping it in the bottom of the pan. That and a lot of heavy weight oil.

How noisy would you say the Carter is? Can you hear it over the engine at idle?

I've heard that as well. One guy found like 2 in there. I just wanted it out and didn't want to risk it.

I can't hear it over idle, and barely right before I start. It comes with a sound isolating bracket and rubber grommets and it's mounted by my rear tank.

From what I understand the Cummins guys love the Carter 4601hp which is a 9.5 to 16 psi 105 gph pump. There is a Carter 4600hp which is a low pressure version, 4.5psi to 8psi with 105 gph. I traded gph (105 vs 72) for the diesel specific one mentioned above. But probably makes no difference but I don't need 105 gph.

I don’t know what brand of pump but the original owner bypassed the mechanical pump and installed a pump that is labeled as Ford and it’s electric on the side of the engine bay.

No louder than a gas engines fuel pump, you know the typical buzzing noise but not over the engine noise, it's hardly noticeable in the cab when trucks not running. @Rossroams thats what I was curious of if for ford had made a kit for e-fuel that was more factory looking back then? @gerlbaum yeah 105gph is a lot, Mines only 72 I think and that's been more than enough lol

I run mr gasket 105p on all my trucks and many customer trucks. I have yet to have one fail and they are around the $100 range. They are rated at 150 gph so with a good Holley regulator they work great even with big pumps. I do not like the regulators that come with them

I have the money for a fuel pump set up now, wondering if I should go carter 4070 4-6 or facet 9-12 psi? Or a higher psi carter? Carter seems to Ben in my mind for fuel flow over the facet, and the price difference but people swear by carter and facet so idk?
Look closely at the Facet site there is a high gph version but it is 9-12 psi. I’m using a swadgelok brand valve to regulate psi and it currently drops under high load so I’m going to hi GPH version and stoic keep it at 6 psi

Made this for about 110$ No pressure drops, runs smoothe. All that's left Is to get some wire covers for the harness

Setting on the lake, sucking down coffey, any of you e pump guys think the tinnnny ass ports in the carrier pump cause a restriction that could fire the "fuel filter " lamp???

Op
The stickie above is a great primer, go read it.

I wondered that. The other thing is that since it’s 1/8 npt, most of those fittings have tiny holes through them. I drilled all my fittings out to about as large as I could. It’s not like it’s a high pressure system needing heavy wall fittings. Swagelok stuff is notorious for that. Most of their fittings are rated for 2-3k psi.

Cool! What is it?

FYI the pressure gauge on your filter header is reading pre-filter pressure only, it won't tell you what the pressure is at the IP inlet.

Spectre performance fuel filter?

If you're looking for a good diesel prefilter (100 micron plus) I bought this Racor one and I like it. It is 150 micron and is before my Carter. Then, I have a frame rail mounter Parker 700 with a 2 micron R90 filter that flows 105gph, from there to my aeromotive bypass regulator. The Parker/Racor 700 is technically a lift pump and filter housing in one but I don't use the pump since it pushes 16 psi. I do have it wired so that if my Carter dies I can use it to get home. Parker/Racor crap is ungodly expensive but I get a massive discount otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.
