i just bought one off of ebay. i received it the other day. the plastic was all dirty and the battery was corroded onto the battery plug. i thought it was money wasted. cleaned up the corroded connection, put in a 9 volt battery and tested it out. worked like a charm. if anyone is intrested i saw one for sale on ebay. click link below, cant go wrong with the price when ferret stopped making them.

Thanks for the tip, I just bought it for $120, free shipping. :)
Now I have to find an affordable dial-back timing light!

awsome, just go on amazon and buy the innova timing light but get the one that has adjustable timing and has the tach which you need. if you go on youtube and search 6.9 7.3 idi timing a guy joe gives a great great video on using that innova timing light and he has the ferret meter but same for the mac meter. you will dialed in, in no time, just a matter of loosening the bolts on the pump. good luck

why not just get a timing tape instead? I put one on my truck years ago and it still works perfect. That way you can use any timing light.

That's what I did. Some will laugh at the cheap tool, but if it works, it works...

That'd work... although I'd have to do a lot of cleaning to get it to stick, I should nickname my IDI the Exxon Valdez ;) Do you have a part number handy? Or I could just make one if I knew the diameter of the damper...
