That's what I did. Some will laugh at the cheap tool, but if it works, it works...awsome, just go on amazon and buy the innova timing light but get the one that has adjustable timing and has the tach which you need. if you go on youtube and search 6.9 7.3 idi timing a guy joe gives a great great video on using that innova timing light and he has the ferret meter but same for the mac meter. you will dialed in, in no time, just a matter of loosening the bolts on the pump. good luck

why not just get a timing tape instead? I put one on my truck years ago and it still works perfect. That way you can use any timing light.
