I turned mine down because mine is all stock and it pulls goods up hill at 5 psi and less black smoke when I stomp on the peddle. I knew I had to adjust the fuel pressure when I first put it in because of all the post I read in this Forum. This Forum will never steer you in the wrong direction. I just pay close attention to what all the senior member say, because it is solid advice. Good luck on your next project.

When I set mine up on the test bench I use 6.5 psi. Mel does the same, increased pressure becomes necessary when you are trying to squeeze more than 200cc’s out and you have to remove the transfer pump because that becomes a restriction.

Just out of curiosity--did Mel previously set his fuel to 5 psi and changed to 6.5? I woulda' sworn I read he advocated for 5psi, but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

Could be, if my memory serves me right it was 6.5, but 5 makes very little difference

5 psi on mine works great but I am not running a turbo yet. I am just saving my penny to build my 7.3l for those long Hauls coming up. I hope the truck will be all done by May. Good Luck on your Fuel Pump Choice;burnout

I have the money for a fuel pump set up now, wondering if I should go carter 4070 4-6 or facet 9-12 psi? Or a higher psi carter? Carter seems to Ben in my mind for fuel flow over the facet, and the price difference but people swear by carter and facet so idk?

Just my .02 here. From what I have read the Carter seems to be a good pump. Mounting the Carter down on the frame might be simpler than mounting the Facet in the engine compartment. After making a larger bracket to support both coolant filter and Facet pump, relocating the coffee can, and the additional wiring from pump and 3g alt upgrade my passenger fender is damn crowded. If my Facet were to fail prematurely I would be tempted to go with a "pusher" pump mounted on the frame just to free up some space. The other factor I would consider is replacement pump availability. Personally I would just buy two of whatever you decide to go with. With only one vehicle I can't afford downtime while twiddling my thumbs waiting for a new pump in the mail. Missed work quickly costs me more than buying parts before I need them. Again, just my .02.

The Facet is relatively quiet and I never hear it while driving. The extra filter in the fuel bowl is cool too.

I have the Carter and I did not. Mine is mounted by the rear tank. I had a Holley and my god that thing was really loud. Now I've got the Carter p4070 version (O'Reillys pn # E16048) with an Omega Moose and it's perfect for me and quiet. Buying it through O'Reillys it gave me a lifetime warranty so it could be replaced anywhere vs ordering the p4070 version through summit racing or similar.

It is a 4 to 8 psi diesel specific pump at 72 gph and it fits the bill perfect. I do run a bypass regulator, best regulator i could afford, at 6.5 psi but I bet it's not necessary. Every regulator I've used fell apart within a year except for the one I run now and it is the most expensive part of my fuel system (except for the IP).

After loosing two Holley red pumps in two years, I went back to mechanical oem lift pump and haven’t looked back. One on my NA 6.9 in the crawler, and on my 88 with 100cc moose and moose misters with banks turbo. Never had an issue

Carter was installed yesterday, it runs great! No fuel pressure loss while free revving anyway my mechical pump that was basically new would drop down to 1-0 just from a rev. Unfortunately my pump is leaving from the seam that connects the top housing to the bottom base, not terrible but summit is gonna send me another pump for free! i wouldn't say I gained any power but everything feels smoother. Still no smoke in the higher rpms and my boost hasn't gone up any I'm thinking my boost guage is crapped out because after timing and now this pump that turbo is screaming and shows no more boost than before

Tried and true is hard to beat, but I think 100cc is about the limit to what I would run with a stock pump

I run a Duralift 9-12psi on my 6.9 with a stock turbo. Positive and ground wire, and I wired it where the original owner had an electric installed by.... Ford.... strange. But I stopped the air intrusion and now I just need to adjust timing. I’ve only had it for a week but it’s definitely an improvement.

I lost the fuel pump arm in the block and spent 3 miserable days fishing it out the hole with a harbor freight camera scope and a host of long reach tools. I will never put another mechanical pump on any vehicle again.
