No my problem was only with the lights on and the dimmer turned up from completely off, or if the vent fan was on full blast regardless of the lights. Strange circumstances to me but the problem went away when the grounds were isolated. And with the lights on I could vary the amount of inaccuracy in the EGT readings with the dimmer all the way to constantly reading Zero on the gauge. Why the vent fan speed affected it is confusing to me but it did. A common ground with the instrument/dash lights and the climate controls would be my guess.

I was just trying to offer another perspective.

No I appreciate it. The blower thing makes sense to me. It’s a lot of juice. I pulled a ground wire from the battery and tied it to my gauge pig tail and it made no difference. The gauges are currently all grounded to the body about 6” from where they are located. Firewall has ground wires to it. I don’t get it. If all the gauges read one direction (either high or low) it would make more sense. I’m wondering if the only real solution is going to be to calibrate it all out. That will suck.

Yeah sounds like you've got it covered. It's maddening I'm sure. I've been slowly going through your build thread and what a beauty you've built. Nice work.

Hope you have gauge resolution soon.

Thanks man. Been a lot of work.

Public service announcement. Don’t buy a cheap eBay tailgate. I thought “eh how bad could it be??”

Well, the answer is bad. Such a pos.

Well Mike stop using the tail gate as a trampoline LOL;Poke

Did it hurt the out side? A nice piece of 1/8" plate would solve that problem. Won't make the gate any lighter.

I’ve seen a couple trucks with the diamond plate cover for the inside of the tailgate, don’t remember the brand but could be an option

I’ve also considered that. I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Probably just going to have a bent ass tailgate for a while. Figures. That was the best looking panel on the truck.

LOL

Yeah not so much around here. They all look as bad or worse than the one I swapped out. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet. I’ll figure something out. Good ones are a hot commodity around here.

Bring the family out to see the left coast and I can hook you up with tailgates. It might be a haul, but what better excuse for a two week road trip?

It’s on the list! I’m not sure when we will get to it but it is on the list.

So small bits of progress. Got the cb mounted and wired.

Made an antenna mount.

It will mount behind the cab on the front lip of the bed.

Been working on the backup camera setup. Switch is coming for the overhead. There’s enough cable to stretch it back to the front of the camper. If the cheapie works maybe I’ll do a better set at some point. I looked at wireless but they seem to have a lot of problems. This should let me hitch by myself and see behind the
camper.

Anyone else having issues with Tapatalk? I used to upload pics to the site directly through the app now it fails and forces me to let tapatalk host. It’s really annoying.

Now just need to figure out what goes in the last hole. Candidates are currently on board air, train horns, neon under body lights, trunk monkey.

Maybe a poll is in order?

I actually cleaned the restoration dirt off the dash tonight. It’s only been on the road for a year. Bed is cleaned out. We are ready to pack for the rally!
