Are your cooler lines still going through the radiator? If so then the coolant should heat up the trans fluid enough to check it I would think, I would try to make it work with how you plan on using the coolers instead of bypassing them and then having to go through more changes once you hook up the coolers.

Yep still going through the radiator. I put a large aftermarket cooler in too that replaced the factory auxiliary cooler since I went to the larger lines. The last time I ran it for an extended amount of time the cooler lines were warm but didn't get very hot, witch I was happy about..

Not bypassing anything, just thought if I put a pig tail loop in the return it would keep the converter from draining down.

The converter will leak down without a check valve.

If you are upgrading to 3/8" lines. You a 4R100 bypass. It will give you the required valve and 3/8" parts.

Already tried to go that route. Unfortunately mine seems to be a odd ball as most of the suggested parts don't fit. The front and rear fittings are the same size, unlike the bypass where the rear is larger in the trans case.

I kinda hijacked the following thread, last few pages is where I started. This is how I ended up where I'm at now.

Still think if I put a pig tail loop like the one on the fuel pump only going up instead of down it should help.

Anybody know what the output pressure to the cooler is? I'm looking at some in line check valves and wondered if one with an opening psi of around 10-15 would be best.

Well 5 days of driving everything seems good. First few days were rough, wasn't wanting to run good, but a few days of a heavy right foot seems to have made it better, gotta knock out the cob webs..

Next Tuesday will be the big test, gotta get e-test done so I can get tags. Run her up to 65 and lug the bejeusus out of it on a dino and hope nothing breaks... Praying nothing goes boom, really not wanting to spend more time working on it and the wife is a little bitter I've been gone working on it (she aint happy nobody's happy).....
