Well just got back from the first test drive. With the wastegate unhooked and my big pump on I saw 24 psi at something above 80 mph. Feels real nice, haven’t timed it but it needs advancing for sure, it’s pretty laggy off the line. Videos to come hopefully tomorrow

It’s my own pump, it’s actually meant for project jerry but that truck doesn’t have an engine in it yet. It’s still a db2 with some port work done and a stage three leaf spring, it’s the first time for me doing this much work to a db2 without going to a db4 hybrid so I’m happy to see it’s working well because 8 cylinder db4s are rare and expensive these days.

I hot wired the cold advance solenoid and got 27 psi. Sorry for the poor quality its a screenshot from a video.

24 psi is the least this truck will ever make, I built it to handle the boost, we’ll see how the bottom end holds up. I’ll get the drive pressure gauge setup soon and see what I’m reading there.

Put 100 miles on it today in some mixed stop and go driving just running errands. Going to do its first oil change then turn it up this week. Everything is working great it definitely picked up some power since first driving it, I think I’ve got a bit of a boost leak so I’ll be investigating that. Also have a small coolant leak from the lower radiator hose, so gonna try changing the clamp, vacuum pump is weak so gonna swap the pump over from the old engine.

Here’s some pics of the quick and dirty 3” downpipe, not true 3” all the way because I didn’t cut up the turbo outlet but much better than stock.

Formed up the drive pressure gauge while I had the engine out

Are you running a isolator on that back pressure gauge? Or at least a filter?
Seen some have issues with soot clogging up the gauge.

I’ll have a filter where it goes from copper to the nylon hose, haven’t had much issues with that setup
