Testing a sending unit, at its lowest point it reads 16 ohms. At max it over loads the meter but just a touch off it's max it reads just about 170, sometimes a point it hits 350 before max, is this sending unit good? It seems like maybe it's not supposed to be help up that high maybe because spec is 17-170 if I remember right?

So what's go going here? The bottom ones that's dirty came from my tank, guage hasn't ever worked, top isn't one I pulled from my parts tank and when I plug it in it moves the needle to various spots I could hold it in, bottom out it's empty top it's full it's seems to be correct. But the one from new tank is like 1 inch taller. Came from a 93 parts truck tanks look the same though. Will this "new" one work? It's seems to fit in my tank

It fits, guage seems to read, however the lines are angles different on top and the plug sits on the opposite side of the top, and my lines don't seem to want to sit in the position the sender wants them to be on it due to the new being positioned different slightly

The range should be 22.5 empty and 145 ohm full.
You may just want to de-solder the sending unit and move it over to your original.

Well it's installed now, tank has about half full of fuel I checked by hand before installing to see if it was on the ball park and it says just over half so it's close probably, lines are kinda relaxed now I moved them around the fram some and they seem alright now, old one was held in with a bunch of blue silicon in think maye the old one was wrong maybe? Or new one is aftermarket and just a little different? . It seems to be sitting correctly in my tank, and reading at least close but I won't know until I top off tank and see gallons it takes or if I run out of fuel randomly and tank reads not empty? But I feel it's pretty close. Maybe e and f are 22-145 but I've always notices guages will go just below E and just above F so maybe that accounts for when guage it maxed out at either end of the fuel tank? With my 16-170 ohm readings? Or when it's in the tank the tank physically won't let the float hit these max marks I can hit while the floats not in then tank?

The bottom sender appears to have been changed by all the solder on the suction and return lines.

That's the one that came out of my truck, updates though I still it won't go above a 5/8 of tank now, but when I had it out I could move it to full and my guage said full? Also I had to swiTech Floats and I think I may have installed float opposit way it was maybe its touching something in my tank? And on another note I learned why I should take out my little filler Hose that goes inside my large filler hose at the gas station tryin to learn If my guage works or not. When filling it lets me fill it up to the fuel door, causing it to pour diesel out of my breather, and it leaks at sending unit and went bubbling out my gas door at the same time lol

If it's leaking at the sending unit, you've got to fix that. Every time you hit a bump, fuel will splash up there and it will constantly leak(slowly).
Clean surfaces, new gasket/lock ring(they are cheap), and make very sure that the gasket O-ring is in there and not getting squished out the side somewhere.

@Macrobb I didn't know there was a gasket, never saw one come off and I don't belive one went on unless it was on the sending unit, that would maybe explain the inch of silicone I had to remove to get my old sending unit out now lol

Here you go. See the square cut o-ring? Mine stayed attached.
