So my 85 is a ttb50 with leaf springs in the front and it rides... awful. The slightest imperfections in the road as I drive along will create a ripple effect of awful stiff bouncing. The shocks all could probably use replacing but I'm not sure. Maybe that's just how a single cab 350 rides with leafs around this time but damn if my 7.3 crew cab 350 with coil springs up front doesn't ride like a Cadillac in comparison. I know it has newer coil springs and shocks and is way heavier than my bullnose but still..

So all things considered what shocks would you guys reccomend to make the ride suck less?

Get the cheapest close out shocks you can find on rock auto- if you want the mrs to never ride with you.

Bilsteins have transformed every truck I’ve put them in, and they last.

What happens to be the part number for the front shocks on a 4x4 of this year? I found the back pretty quick on google but all of the fronts for the right year range say rwd.

T beam and leaf spring is the worst. Being it's also a 350 might be worst ride ever. Prob never will be very good. Didn't matter what I did to my 85 f250 4x4.

So since I think it's relevant are you guys running Bilsteins running the yellow ones or the grey/silver ones?

Yellow is 4600 series which is for stock height, grey is 5100 series which is for lifted. That’s my understanding at least

How much Lift? I need 1 shock for 8" lift. Currently have one missing (the way I bought the truck)

Michael,

They changed their website, before you could punt in a vehicle, and it would show all options, including for a lift.... Just a quick search just now, I don't see that.....

I did a search on my Excursion, and it showed all the options....

Maybe I'm searching something wrong for your truck....

Since this is all I found. I know you can get them by length if you can match up the mountings.....

So, I'm almost positive the shocks I'm getting are wrong. My bilsteins were backordered another month and the shocks they are sending me are 12" compressed 18.75" extended but when I measured what was on my truck I swear it was longer.

Does anyone with a 4x4 ttb50 with leafs know of a shock that will fit? This has been way harder to find than I expected. Everywhere wants to sell me one that's either too short or the top mount isn't a stud like it needs to be it's an eyelet which wont work.

Can you measure the length of the mounted shock? This should help you with getting the proper shock. The working length is what really is important. Good Luck!

I'll have to take one back off. I know in the lounge I had posted a thread about how the measurements are done, those yellow shocks are the same length as the bilstein shocks I had ordered online it turns out. Even extended fully in the truck with it not jacked up they wouldn't bolt in, were off by I'd say 1" plus just to bolt on so probably 3" too short for legit workability.
