Would love too but work way too much... Kinda miss Texas... Spent some time there traveling for my last job, but never got too close to San Antonio, just Houston and northern Texas/panhandle..

icanfixall had it right on.... If you end up changing out your glow plugs- don't do what I did...

I had a couple bad glow pugs, and replaced them with generic parts. With in 3 months, all 8 of the glow plugs had burned up. I replaced them all with motorcraft parts and it has worked great for 6 months now, with no failures. She's a much better truck now.

I have since learned that mismatched, or off brand glow plugs cause a voltage/resistance differential between the different glow plugs, and will burn them out.. or something like that.

Another Texas idi I see! I’m north of San Antonio, let me know if you need any misc parts, I stockpile these trucks.

Something that hasn’t been mentioned is the headlights. The stock lights are pretty lame, and doing the headlight relay mod makes them perform the way the should and keeps your headlight switch from melting/burning up. Bronco graveyard sells a really nice kit that’s worth every penny.

Yep. Here's the link:

Got motocraft glow plugs
My next question is does the glow plug relay and block also need to be motorcraft as well?
Put new batteries in yesterday and she spun over good but didn’t fire off. Found the GPR busted after taking breather off and wires were burnt on relay.

Do I assume that most electronic parts need to be oem for this truck or what?

So upon removing upper hose I found lots of rust around the neck. I found one bolt for removing the tube/tube and the looks to be covered by vacuum pump. Does the pump need to come off for changing Tstat? Also should I replace the tube and where to get it from as I have had no luck sourcing it?

Yes, the vacuum pump and alternator should come off for this. It's the only way to make sure that the sealing surface is clean when you install the new thermostat. I think you can't even see the other bolt with the alternator installed.

When I got mine I thought I needed every thing Glow plugs, IP, injectors, new engine. I posted my problems and got a lot of good advice. My truck smoked white a lot on startup and bellowed a tons of black smoke on acceleration. Now after following the advice of top notch oil burner members my truck starts like a champ and get a small puff of black smoke on heavy pedal mashes. ZD9 Motor Craft Glow plug only, unless you want the dreaded white smoke on start up. Injector, Conestoga Diesel Injection, proven high Quality parts, Best Bang for your buck. I still read every topic that comes up because these truck need all the help we can give them for a long and successful life. Enjoy your new truck, and always post problems you can not figure out because 1000 heads are better than one. Good Luck

I am replacing the GP's, GPC, Valve Cover gaskets, Water Pump and Tstat. All electrical components plus a plethora of wiring repair.
Not to mention new cab and bed and Transmission

Here is a copy of a 1990 wiring diagram? Gives the color of wires and what they do. This was very helpful for me. It from a Ford Dealer's manual.
