I looked around but my googlefu is weak.

I just developed the dreaded stuck on empty, with a full tank issue.

I can see the sender with a mirror, it looks like the 2 wire plug stabs on straight down.
It feels like there is 1 pull tab to get ahold of.

How does the wiring harness attach?
I want to test the sender and harness before I try to pull the bed solo.

This is on my '92 CCLB. The first picture, with the sender in the tank, I'm pretty sure is the front tank. The sender on that front tank can be removed with the tank and the bed both in place. The second picture is on a sender, I'm not sure whether it's front or read, though it doesn't matter since the attachment for the cables is the same. I hope this is what you need.

Some 4x4 trucks got a skid plate under the front tank. Rear tank, it's the skid plates that actually hold the tank up (no straps). And that front skid plate is heavier than the tank itself, so use ratchet straps to lower/raise it.

Thanx...
Old age has its drawbacks, even with less than 50k on her she is pukeing parts
Fun tidbit, coming outta the back 40 up the ravine, the gauge flashed some movement....
Just to add drama.

Front tank sender removal is easy because the tank has a bevel on the driveshaft side that allows you more working room. Blow off the sender so none or very little dirt gets in the tank when you remove it. note the square gasket under the sender and also note the tank has a locating pin so the sender can ONLY fit one way. Use your cell phone camera as you remove pieces. It really helps us who suffer from CRS...

Thanx gary...
It looks that way, just got the 5er loaded, been going since 0430...
The fireplace is nice and warm I may do it in the am.
I can hear the fsv when I hit the switch(hope it is changing tanks) its a 3\4 tank run to the campground 1 way.
So if no switching is happening again I need to stop for fuel on the way home.
I need to see if fuel is flowing thru the pre filters post sender (pre fsv) I did this when the fsv got crudded up.

Thinking out loud here...
If the gauge is showing both tank levels (1 e,1full) when switched... Would the fsv be switching tanks also?
Does the rocker\slider in the fsv do both at once???

Yes, the mechanical action of the FSV also opens/closes the appropriate contacts for the gauge senders. So that _should_ mean, if you see the gauge reading change, that the FSV is switching properly.

Quick update as this got back burnered.
Ran to the coast and back, ran the front tank that showed E when full first...
It started reading again after the first 1\4 tank (climbed up to 3\4 from empty) ran out all the way to almost empty but fore I switched tanks.
Switched tanks back and forth fine on the way home.

Been parked for a while , I went out and fired it up to haul some rock, on rear tank it showed empty:-( *****!
Its full, shut it off and fired back up, then switch tanks back an forth...
Hear the fsv click(gauge works now) so I an guessing its time to go check oldbulls fsv thread out.
