So yup thanks catbird, i checked the timing and the owner before me had it cranked advanced about the width of a dime. And i mean the face of a dime, not the side! I went full retard and nearly lined it back up with what was stamped into the metal. Its doing great now, no knocking on takeoff and the blue smoke clears up after a half mile down the road. It sure smokes a lot until its hot though, im thinking the number 8 cylinder the po told me about has a hole in it.
