I have read and understand about injector knocking and white smoke at idle. My problem is the knock comes and goes at times at idle. Above 1200 to 1300 rpm it is completely gone. Ok, bad injector. If i crack the lines at idle all of them are about the same. At idle and at 1200 rpm.
The white smoke i understand at cold idle, but even after warming up the white smoke reappears up to about 1000 rpm. Injectors have about 5k on them and ip about 65k. I recently turned down the fuel because i was getting black smoke above 1200 rpm, loaded or not, even whrn reving it up. I turned it down about 1/2 of a flat. Ip timing is about 1/16th towards the passenger side. Question, injectors or ip or both? 1991 Ford Navistar 7.3 IDI

Thanks for responding quickly to questions where and when the parts got replaced.
Now sadly you have some VERY suspect parts. This forum has a history of reporting both good and bad experiences with ebay sellers. So please read the 2 forums named The Hall of Shame. Then read the forum about those members and sellers that offer great parts and services.

Have you found your solution yet? I have the same symptoms. Only i have not changed the IP or the injectors. I did pop test all the injectors at 1800+- 50.
None are leaking. I have heard about "cold" smoke which is all about timing. I think my timing is full on retard. I am too broke for a timing meter.

Fires right up at start tho. Changed the GP with motorcraft. fuel pump is upgraded to holley reds.

Do you have a good CDR Valve because it can smoke white on start up, and smoke on heavy acceleration, like burnt orange in color. The CDR valve is what caused mine to smoke when I first got my truck.

I put in a new cdr valve a couple of months back. havent had a chance to get back to it... new problem, water in fuel... got about 2 quarts of water out of my front tank, just filled up the other day so 2 quarts in about 14 gallons.... guess where i aint buying fuel from again....
had to unhook the lines under neath and use 3/8 hose and pressurized the fuel tank to push it all out, then tank out the sending unit to finish drying it, now waiting for another fuel filter to come in.
