Hey fellas, in 28 years out of 30, my 1988 7.3 never Jelled the Fuel until our bitter cold SE-PA winter in 2015. A quick call to Mel suggested I put a Heat Gun at the main line going into my Baby Moose Pump (I named that Pump lol) and sure enough that got her running.

For the rest of that winter and proceeding winters (including this one) I've been using Power Service Diesel Kleen in the 'White' Bottle 1-oz of PS to 3 gallons Fuel with no more gelling issues. The White Anti Gel Bottle now states it also raises Cetane levels (never mentioned that years ago).

No local Truck Stops around me so I'm kind of stuck with what my local Auto Stores and Walmart sells.

At my Walmart I'm seeing other options a little less expensive than Power Service and wondering how they perform vs Power Service?
*Howes Lubricator Diesel Treat "no gelling Guaranteed" (I don't believe it boosts Cetane boost)
*Lucas Anti Gel

***Stanadyne is not available unless I travel to a large Truck repair shop.
Any feedback about about Howes and/or Lucas...thanks, Ray

BTW...I STOPPED using 2-stroke Walmarts Supertech TCW3 (one oz per gallon of fuel) in my fuel a few years ago.

What did Mel suggest? I recall many users here with Howes so hopefully you might get some positive feedback on howes. Personally I never tried Howes. I have used Stanadyne Performance formlua for bout 12 years now.On mt way to the 2009 rally I purchased 9 gallons of it from a place in Phoenix thru ebay. Am now down to 1 1/2 gallons in the half gallon jugs. I drive my rig about 5000 or just a little less per year.

I've never noticed any real difference with additives of various sorts, but these days I'm running Optilube.
I ran the Summer+ from September onward, because I got a quart cheaply at Hunting4Horsepower. I certainly haven't noticed any /negative/ effects.
I have a quart of the Winter+ stuff, but it hasn't gotten cold enough yet; I'm still up in the 30F range.

I have at times used the PowerService white bottle, and well, it seems to have done it's job. Stuff stinks, though, especially when you have an open bottle.

Ive used the Howes, Hot Shots, PS white bottle, Stanadyne Performance bottle and I never had gelling here in CT.

I got a smoking deal on some Stanadyne Performance bottles, so I have 3 gallons of it, so for the next couple years ill be running that lol

As mentioned Mel, suggested I use the heat gun (which worked) and I believe he likes Stanadyne, but no locals sell it.

Are there any farm stores near by? My local large farm supply store carries a wide range of additives(including stanadyne), filters, oil, etc.

+1 on any farm supply selling Powerservice, I always got Howes at truck stops but it was all western United States so I can’t speak for eastern US.

kali "winter" diesel deals with the smoke issue more than gelling, so if I do go up into the snowbelt, the Howe's goes in. The only downside of my upper tank is it's exposed location to the cold. Howe's is found everywhere in kali, and I like consistency, so if it can be obtained easily, I'll use it until I get proof the stuff doesn't do squat.

Ray, I always used white bottle PS in my dually. With the 89 truck I after I got it from Darrin I stopped by Menards (hoping to buy a level of all things) and they had a smoking deal on Howes. I bought a couple jugs and have been using it with no issues. I may get flamed, but I never measure it out. A couple "glugs" from the bottle into a funnel at fill up and call it good.

I’ve only used Power Service products, white in the winter and silver in the summer. I’ve not had any fuel related issues in any of my diesels.

I picked up a case of Power Service cheap over the summer, and have been using it. I also got a smoking deal on a case of Howes, so I will be giving it a try also.

If I remember correctly, RLDSL swears by Howes.

I always stick with howes, most parts stores here sell it now. I carry a red 911 bottle of power service just in case but you need to know how to use it. Biggest issue with the power service is it is alcohol based.

Been using Howes since 1986 thru lows of about -15F with no issues. Really liked the idea of
no thinning agents (alky etc.).

Thanks for the feedback fellas...as far as a local "Farm Supply" tff, I'm in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
My local Walmart (hate going in there) sells the Howes Lubricator Diesel Treat for a few $ less than Power Service and the Howes comes in a larger 64oz Jug.
So, when my smaller bottle of PS is used up I'll grab a Jug of Howes.
I believe 1oz of Howes to a 3-gallons of diesel mixture is good to Zero degrees.

I am using up the last of my PS, so I will probably try Howes next.

I'm not big on WalMart, but I do purchase my ashless 2-cycle from there. They have good deals on gallon jugs. I can use it in the IDI and my 2 cycle snow thrower.
