I know you can check the SCA (used to prevent erosion of the cylinder walls) in the coolant with test strips. Does anyone know what the test strip are testing for? Is it testing for the amount of a certain substance in the coolant or is it testing the PH level of the coolant? If the strip is testing the ph of the coolant, then does anyone know what the PH range would be to indicate that the level of SCA's in the coolant is OK?

..Or, go with a good ELC coolant like Zerex HD ELC. I like that one because it won't damage bad seals, should do everything needed to prevent cavitation/corrosion, and last for 5 years/150K or so.

I. Hate. Test strips... I am absolutely horrendous with colors so for me the test strips are nothing but a waste of money. Just go with a precharged filter or better yet a good ELC (extended life coolant.) I use the rotella ELC. Its real good stuff and its purple so that just makes it all the better!
