About the oil? Not one bit. As long as you still have the cdr connected to the intake that is normal

The oils normal but it looks dirty. Do you have any air filter leaks?

I agree that there should be a film of oil, but I would agree that looks a little too much like "panko bread crumbs". Just my .02 but I'd look for some leaks between the outside of your air cleaner and the inlet of your turbo.

As long as it's just oil with no crud in it, you are fine.

Speaking of which... IDIs are /filthy/ motors. Huge ring gaps, tons of blowby... that's just how they are designed.
What this means is: Frequent oil changes. Don't skimp on them. The manual says 5K normal service, 2.5K severe... I go 2.5k.
Any 15W40 oil should be fine; I use Mobil Delvac because it can be found with large mail in rebates.
Oil filters - Use one for a 7.3 PSD. FL1995 or equivalent. They are 1 quart longer(11 quarts total oil capacity).

Thanks fellas! I just got the truck a couple weeks ago. I changed the oil before I drove it home and just changed the air filter tonight and it was absolutely filthy. Truck actually felt like it ran better with the new filter.
