What's difference between ats hotside and factory? I though they were the same besides ats selling their kits with a 3 inch Downpipe? Someone's parting out another idi near me again I'm gonna try and snag the downpipe setup hopefully they say yes

@typ4 would know more, it's been a few years since I got it from him but I think I remember something about more whistle and slightly better spooling with the ats housing.

Oh, that could make sense, he actually put a banks compressor housing on my intake side since I plan on running a intercooler for the boot to connect better he mentioned the banks housing will actually flow more and it's got the 60-1 wheel in it. It takes same wheel as stock turbo but does flow more so maybe ats takes same wheel as factory but could flow better too

That's basically what I'm going for, if anything maybe it will sound a little different lol I want to hear what a truck sounds like with one installed and some straight pipe behind it but can't find one in YouTube. I did find a video of how to install one though but gen hasn't video it running yet

Ask and you shall receive

093 with wicked wheel 2 and R&D 3 inch elbow downpipe mod, to 4 inch diamond eye exhaust with no muffler.

@HS108 what did the WW2 do for your setup? Overall is it worth doing, and does the 3" elbow become necessary with an upgraded wheel?

@Pork_Chop50 The problem I have is, I dont have a bench mark to go from. I didnt install a boost gauge until I did the elbow and WW2 install.

I have a thread call project BTB that you can see pics of it. Project: BTB

The bottom line is: Do i feel a major difference in power or MPG - No I dont. BUT I am glad i did it - Yes, as i do feel better knowing that im not choking the exhaust flow which can be harmful.

Here is the post where I show the wheels side by side along with the exhaust housings.

Here is the install of the WW2, The gator grip socket worked miracles on the hot side nut. Its awesome when things like that save you. Who would have thought an "as seen on TV" thing would work so good.

Here is the old wheel VS New Wicked wheel

Installed photo after finally getting the nut off. God I hope this holds up. If I could go back in time, I would have spent the extra money and gotten the Typ4 modded turbo just to have the peace of mind that it was put together correctly.

I know justin R&D's owner did a dyno run with a 093 with his 3'' dp and a ww2 on smogie. I want to say he saw 10hp/25 ft lbs iirc. I will double check though. In his words if you were trying to get the most out of the 093 without going to his stage 1 drop he thought it was worth it.
I know a couple other guys who have swapped and one of them gained 1-2 mpg with the ww2, another didnt notice fuel mpg increase but did see 1-2 psi boost increase.
A buddy of mine put one on his 088 turbo, and also intercooled at the same time and had no pressure losses after intercooling, He attributes keeping the same boost levels to the ww2.

I want to see a picture of my 60-1 wheel next to a stock wheel, I think @typ4 maybe able to do that? I don't know many others who might have those two wheel laying around the shop he told me the size difference but I can't recal them right now.

Though I likley wouldnt do it I did see online they have a billet 60-1 wheel available, but I see no sense in taking apart a fresh rebuilt turbo and idk if the assembly would need to be balanced after it or if the wheel is from a good supplier too many unknowns for me
