I figured I better start a build thread and keep everything together.
I started with a non-running '86 F-250, 6.9 IDI with a T-19 4-speed transmission, it would crank slow but not fire. First thing I did was strip our all the wiring (Mostly Rotted), interior, and anything that I wasn't keeping. At one point I rolled it out side and hosed out the interior because it was just sheet metal. It needed a new starter and new batteries. I first started it with the batteries sitting on the ground and pulling fuel out of a 1 gallon jug. Compression test showed 390-420 on all 8.
I started running new wires for everything, keeping it as simple as possible. After it was running I stumbled upon a waste gated Banks SideWinder for $150. When installing it I opted to replace the valley pan so I could weld a fitting into the oil return port and run a SS Oil Return with compression fittings to keep the engine more water tight. (It might get a snorkel later) Painted everything as she went back together. Still running the original Injectors and Injection Pump that came with the truck.
Couldn't find any red interior parts to finish mine off so I went with black everything so I can always paint to match. anything that was missing got a piece of SS to fill the void. Drew up a new cluster panel that goes around the original square Tach and holds new 2" gauges and had it laser cut with switch panels.
Interior is almost done all I have left is to paint the floor boards with the roll on bed liner.
Fuel Tank is new, holds 30 gallons right behind the cab, SS tubing runs both ways, to and from the tank. no more plastic fuel lines. Batteries are mounted off the side of the tank and Radiator is mounted behind it. Just got the Water lines plumbed in they're 2" 16Ga SS with flex joint in a few places.
I keep this updated as I make further changes.
