ive had bad plugs forever. Decided to finally replace them so I don’t have to use the block heater when it’s 40-50 degrees. I must say they are much cleaner than I expected. I run 20% gasoline to 80% used motor oil/hydraulic fluid/ whatever. I centrifuge everything and besides a bit of white ash they look great! To anyone curious I shut down on diesel and only flip to oil once the engine temp is above 160

Those are Autolites? I would be happier about the fact that they didn't swell more than the amount of carbon on them. I am guessing you replaced them with Beru's or something "non-Autolite".

I wonder if the white is good or bad - on the one hand, it is ash, which could build up over time... On the other hand, it is /not/ black, which means it's burning "leaner/cleaner"? Less carbon going to waste?

The way I see it is I see on the Mercedes and wmo forums guys pulling their plugs out that look like stalactites have formed of carbon. I think it’s from not filtering enough. I centrifuge 50 gallons at a time for 8 hours. Pulls all the water and sludge out. The truck loves it I actually get a bit more power from the mix. When I first started I filtered it with 5 micron spin ons and took one of my filtered batches through my then new centrifuge and it pulled a 1/4 inch of sludge out! After that I decided if your gonna run wmo you have to have a centrifuge

Do you burn synthetics as well as conventional oils?

Did you readjust your timing?
I recall other people having issues with coking. (The white buildup)
I don't remember the usernames though. Should be easy to find in the ALT fuel section.
And don't quote me on that, they may have been running 4bt's.

I have often thought about alternative fuels for my '88. Unfortunately, I don't have a good source for them.

No adjustment. I do need to put my new injectors an ip on though. It’s been wore out forever so I figure when I do I’ll set the timing correct. I cut it with 20% gasoline and it makes it thin as diesel and helps keep the coming at bay. Since I’ve setup my centrifuge I haven’t even had to change a fuel filter. It really cleans the fluid

Yes, I burn hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid, any type of motor oil. Basically if it was some kind of oil I’ll burn it!
Nice!
I've burnt alot of vegetable oil in my old vw dasher. Nothing in my ford yet. I've heard things about synthetics not wanting to burn but, like so much "knowledge" concerning the esoteric arts of the IDI, it must be heavily scrutinised.

Yes, unless they are personally doing something i take it with a grain of salt. If you have any questions pm me. My idi has been loving it. I run synthetic, non synthetic, hydraulic, trans, gear oil, anything
