I've been thinking about buying a larger work truck so i can avoid needing certain materials delivered. Unfortunately I live in CA where diesel regulations are ridiculous. I have read a bit of info regarding fleets and vehicles over 14,000 gvwr and the need for engines 2010 or newer but I am uncertain where someone like myself fits into the whole mess. I do not operate a fleet and the F450 would only be my second vehicle. The truck would be used primarily for transporting people, tools and bulk materials to and from job sites. Hopefully somebody from Cali can shed a little light on how CA classifies my situation. Does CA want older F450s to be retrofitted with DPFs? Other? I have tried the DMV website but found little info that helps. Thanks in advance.

Idk if it interests you but I’m in souther California and am selling my superduty. It’s ready to go everything works but unfortunately it’s a 460 gas. And the price is much lower than the 4K shown

I would suggest you build something like this, but transporting personnel is a whole different ball game.
as an employer myself, I would want something "standard" for this job.

The death of the F450 is literally in limbo right now. "Technically" in 2015, any truck weighing 14K/lbs and greater, that is older than 1994, is a dead animal. if you are caught operating one, the fine is $2500/day. There is no retrofit option. In addition, the death date moves forward every year. So....2015=1994, 2016=1995, 2017=1996 and so on and so on....but.....
The only thing governor Brown has done for this state was defunding the enforcement arm of this program. He was smart enough to see this will destroy small businesses in kali. What he didn't do was kill off the whole program entirely. So we are in a wait and see mode of what is going to happen when the next governor is sworn in. My attitude is as long as the DMV accepts my registration money for the trucks, I will keep operating the trucks. :D
confused yet?

I.D let it go for around 2800$ @towcat , I had $3600 put into it on the 27th of last month and have receipts for all new hoses, radiator, power steering lines/ hydroboost lines, fuel pumps/filters/senders/spark plugs/ distributor/brakes/rotors/ dang near every maintenance item! Has a 90 gallon tank in bed with transfer pump, 8x12 deck with toolboxes. Ice cold ac, registration paid until may 2018

thanks for the numbers. It's a little rich for me right now, but I'll keep it in mind. what's the CA measurement on the rear frame?

I'd say they could lead an armed insurrection to overthrow their dumbtatorship and rejoin the rest of the USA, but they'd have to issue each person a Radio Flyer for the amount of 5-shot magazines they'd have to carry.....

So as a side note, have they started issuing your Commiefornia national guard Thompson/Center Encores instead of M-4s yet? :joker:;Poke
