i recently acquired a1994 idi turbo pretty much for scrap price the previous owner thought the engine was getting ready to scatter i kinda had it pegged as a bad flex plate because the noise would stop if i put it in reverse well after i got her home i pulled off the inspection cover and i was right all the torque converter nuts were loose and it slotted out the holes in the plate so i got the brilliant idea of replacing the nuts and put flat washers on each nut to hold it in place that worked for about 3k miles but shes making noise again and i figure shes worthy of a flex plate ive been reading numerous posts on this site on how the 93-94.5 are on their own for flexplates most of the replacement plates are for non-turbo or the powerstroke engine would anyone here have any ideas where i could locate one? all the salvage yards around this area dont have anything under the year 2000 any idea if anyone makes an aftermarket one?

Many chain auto trans repair shops can supply this but for sure Brians Truck Shop (BTS) in Lead hill Arakansaa has them. They build the famous BTS E4OD trans with the warranty.. any hp any torque... No questions asked.I have one and its more than ANY idi can use. Just hang on when it shifts because its not the oem slip into gear slowly.

The 1993 non turbo flex plates are so common that Amazon has them for about $70. But they are balanced different than the turbo flex plates. If anyone has a turbo flex plate, the balance data can be copied onto a non turbo flex plate.

I have a fresh 93 turbo engine to replace my 89 engine. I have spent the last two weeks trying to find a turbo flex plate. I did find a NOS front damper, which is also balanced different.

Today I took the rotating assembly and the 89 flywheel/flex plate combo to a balance shop to balance the entire engine, and the 89 flywheel to match the turbo engine.

And I also replaced the 89 flex plate because one torque converter bolt hole was fatigue cracked almost all the way around the nut face area.

I'll try and find it tomorrow. Is there a specific part# to differentiate between the N/A and the turbo flexplates? It came on a turbo motor that I bought, but that might not mean anything.

I think I have one laying around, I'll have to take a look.

If you do it can be cloned. And it can be cloned onto a billet plate rather than the stock sheet metal plate.

There is an ongoing demand because the engines are outliving their flex plates.

Here's what I have. I couldn't find a part# anywhere, it's metal stamped e4od and "xmsn side" in ink. The ring gear has some damage, but it didn't seem to be an issue when I was using it to start an engine in a parts truck.
