shaft from column to gear box has extreme play in it, picked up one from salvage yard it came apart and now has play when it was just stuck together and tight 5 minutes ago, I couldn't remover mine either as the slip joint refuses to slip, the new one also refused to move and then it came apart

Might be because there was a plastic sleeve type thing in mine, I don't see it on yours. Check up inside the other end and see if it slid up inside? On mine it kinda went around that "leaf spring" thing where the shiny is on yours.

Yep. Go fishing for the plastic bushing. It's probably got shoved up in the shaft. It will be real loose without it.

Did the whole thing slide in? maybe you just need to push it back. Then have someone hold it to keep it from doing that again.

Fixed it sorta I hope, got it out and apart, unknowing to me because I was alone I installed it backwards wheels straight and steering wheel upside down.. used too much force and caused the problem after flipping the steering wheel it went together much nicer. But I am still concerned with the colum shaft movingly in and out like that I'm not sure if I broke something inside it I ran not but truck drives nice and straight now no more steering slop
