Hey guys I'm wanting to convert my truck over to an electric lift pump. I've been looking and found Holley red and facet but I don't know which one is better? How did you guys wire them up? Toggle switch or just into the key? I have a customer that wants this done on his 7.3 idi so pictures and any ideas would be much appreciated.

I've read and tend to agree that the best way to do it is to tie into the fuel shutoff solenoid power. That way the pump would only run when the IP has power. Might want to use a relay though.

Would you mount it coming off the fuel filter or on the frame somewhere?

From what I've read, It'd depend on the pump. Facet I'd probably mount near the filter head, Holley pump I'd probably put on the frame rail. I know the Facet pump is a puller, I think the Holley pump is a pusher.

That's really up to you, it depends on if you have a pusher pump or puller pump really. But you have to also consider do you prefer changing the filter under the truck or under the hood or do you prefer the fuel pump to be heat soaked all the time or to be exposed to road grime

I have mine set to draw power from the starter solenoid to a relay, the trigger from the FSS, a ground, and power out to the pump. If you want to know how the solenoid is set up I'll have to go look. This is from my rather questionable memory, but I think I'm right.

Ir you want to get really fancy, you could wire it into the fss wire for power, and then wire a toggle switch inline with either the power or ground to the pump. That way you could use it as a theft deterrant device.

Is the mental line from the fuel filter to the lift pump just screw on to the facet or do I have to pump some sort of other line in place?

Just replace it with a hose barb in the filter housing and rubber fuel hose. Make sure the hose is diesel rated.
