Thanks for all the advice. I put a new ip in and im about to do the o rings and injector caps. I hope this was the problem. It was weird because i got no black smoke, no fuel was leaking or filling the crank case or going out the tailpipe. Hopefully the pump was my issue
Whers did u get ip from?

My guess is that fuel has to be going into the other fuel tank then(usually if it sticks, it pumps from the front and returns to the rear).
If the engine is running at all decently, 4-5 MPG is basically not possible, unless you were running the engine flat out for hours on end - like pulling a long long grade in 2nd or 3rd... for hours on end.

Fuel has to be going on the ground somewhere by the gallons to see 4 or 5 mpg.A reman IP isn't going to restore 10-15 mpg.

Ok try filling the tanks till they settle the bubbles, and you see fuel in the filler neck on both tanks... Reccord odometer.

Start on rear tank as suggested above,Drive till tank is empty, if switching valve is bad ,the front tank will have puked its overload.

If not fill rear to top of neck and switch to front tank and repeate process....

Record mileage after the front tank is dry.

Report back.

Ok
Do fill in the sig line with the details of your rig so we can see what we are talkin about.
My 88 with 4:10'$ and a c-6 and 1size over tire would get 5-7 when i got it, it never left town and was neglected.
I set the timming FIRST.
I ran alot of snake oil thru it got it up near 10...
New moose pump and inj.helped a small bit.
Best thing I did was load it down and pull a big grade on califs priest grade i to Yosemite.

My 93 had 37k on it when I came over the grapevine on califs 5, best of 14, best recorded ever.

Again ymmv.

make sure the brakes aren't dragging at all, axle condition and alignment can make big differences too. If there is any extra resistance it sucks up power and fuel.

I thought of that too but to cause a 10mpg decrease, the brakes would be on fire and the tires would probably need to be turned completely sideways and dragging.:D

Too true :D, just thinking that AND horrible timing along with leaking injectors and return line adds up. Assuming the gearing is right for the odometer/speedo. 4.10 vs 3.55 gear could skew it some.
