Well after way too long being a garage queen 'Lil' the F-350 has emerged from hiding and taken a few successful around town trips. The new head gaskets seem to be holding and the rest of the truck seems to be solid enough that I started on the turbo swap this weekend. I got everything from intake to exhaust (except the gauges) pulled off the old brown truck on Saturday. Sunday I started with the parts cleanup and prep work on Lil. Good news, the turbo bearings seem to be as tight as they were when I installed it on the brown truck about 12 years ago. Looking forward to getting her turbo'd up! :Thumbs Up

I am contemplating moving the drivers side battery over to the space on the fender behind the passenger battery. I have been searching hoping to find a Tech Article or thread with some information on this, but have not come up with a lot. Does anyone know what size the stock battery cables are? I am thinking 2/0...

Any of you that have moved the drivers side battery, did you change where the ground connects to the engine? Or just get a longer cable?

Progress has been slow, but most of the prep work is done. The old exhaust is removed up to the headers, GPC relocated, throttle cable and wiring at the back of the engine protected, fuel return rerouted and y-pipe and down pipes cleaned up and wrapped. I also previously bent the tunnel back for the down pipe and cut out the sound barrier on the fire wall. Next will be mounting the turbo. [emoji1303]

What products did you use for your heat shield? Exhaust wrap?
Yes, exactly. I just sprayed on the High Temp silicone coating yesterday.
Dang, I didn't notice I got my toes in there [emoji4]

By the way, I made a little more progress yesterday. More of a two steps forward one back.

I managed to get the turbo and bracket all bolted up to the back of the head only to realize I forgot to put the oil drain tube in first... Grr! Sometimes I wonder where my brain is.

After pulling the turbo back off and getting the oils drain tube in then getting the turbo bracket back on and tightened down I called it a night. The bolts are tough to line up by oneself!

You're right. Those bolts are a pain. At least you won't have to do it very often. Love the bike. I haven't seen many with an Akropovic exhaust myself. Do you use it for strictly trail riding or do you race enduro/hare scramble type races?

I race the local Enduro series up here, do the occasional hare scramble and trail ride. How about you? Sounds like the same?
