Just a note bout plugs. I have posted what happened to me when the WRONG brand and wrong material plugs were installed. No sealant was used. The shop used a punch and hammer. No special tool. It cost me a second rebuild at $5000.00 so to the original poster... Its your engine and your money. BTW as already posted. Those appear to not be installed correctly. These are a very sad type of plug. We have no real idea they are installed correctly unless we drill and thread a hole in them and try to remove them. The original plugs are MADE to cut into the step in the plug port by spreading out from the special tool that causes the center to mushroom out into the sides. Not much more to say but YES... You need sealant on them. RTV or most anything. If these were cup plugs well then we can "feel the fit". They usually still have sealant on them too as a safety precaution.

yeah i did not think they were installed correctly, in fact when i first took the block to the shop i was told that they didn't have that type of plug or the tool to put them Ai they wouldn't do it, but then when i went to pick it up i found out that they had just gone ahead and installed them anyway and did it incorrectly, the plugs i got i did not get from Ford but they are stainless and look right so i will try those and just make sure to keep an eye on them, for now though i just have to wait as my friend that is supposed to be making the tool for me is really dragging his feet on getting it done... wish i still worked in a machine shop, could just make it myself
