What would a rally be without a little truck repair??

Changed a starter this morning. I took it to NAPA thinking I had the gear reduction unit. I was wrong. The starter I had looked like the early PSD starter to the point I ended up trying one. Nope. Nose was short. Wouldn't engage the flywheel. Ended up with one of the gear reduction ones with the nose cone. Spins nice and fast now. Thanks to Jared, Heath, Heaths dad and Chris for bringing the easy up over for some much appreciated shade. It was HOT. The typical 20 minute job turned into 2hrs.

I made it to the rally for just a few hours. I live around 45 minutes from this year's rally, unfortunately due to a new job I needed to put time in there rather than take a few days or even a single day off to spend more time. I wasn't able to meet everyone or see all the trucks, but I did see some neat things (like my first in the flesh DT360 swap) and everyone was really friendly. It is a little hard for an introvert like me to roll up to a gathering of people I don't know, who have been hanging together out all week, but everyone was really down to earth and pleasant. It was nice to talk trucks and pop the hood on my truck with guys who actually work on their own stuff, and have done similar work - I don't run into those type of people in my daily life.

Is there a build thread for the guy with the DT360 swap (was his name Jared?)? I'm going to check out the Project-Red-Cent now that I see it - Rob I don't think I met you or saw your truck up close but it sounds neat. For those that were asking, the build thread for my truck is in my signature.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your hospitality. Sorry I couldn't stay longer - hopefully I will make it again some day.

@TWeatherford the DT360 truck at the rally was Jared. His name here on the board is @subway. It's a long story how he got that name, haha! Sorry we missed you since we were there in the beginning of the week. Hopefully next year you can join us for a few more days, I know for me it's always a blast!

Was nice to meet you, to bad we didn't get to sit down and talk trucks to much. I think your boy would have been running around with the others having fun in no time.

I do have a build thread, it is still a work in progress and testing my wifeys patients. LOL

Been working her hard. Got a few hours sleep in Maryland and enjoyed a scenic sky in West Virginia last night. Should be home by 2pm today.

Wow!! EGTs just shy of 1300. I hope you didn't hold that too long. You're right on the edge there, maybe a bit over.

We completed our second leg of the trip and rolled in about an hour ago. No major issues to report. My ratchet strap AC mount lasted for the week, and I was thankful for that.

Thanks to all for coming out, we had a great time. And thanks to Heath and Missy for putting together a fantastic event!

oh boy, what a drive that was back home.. we all made it back fine. truck did great, no major oil leaks so far and maybe used a quart of oil on the whole trip at the most and didn't loose or puke out any coolant.

we hit some traffic on the road but nothing too bad. we did have a little incident though.....

this slowed us down a little. luckily it happened in the day time and we were at an exit so we could change it in a safe place. it was wearied, I started to pass a trailer truck and felt the truck buck for a second and thought *** and then looked back and the tire just blew right up. that's when I said oh **** and pulled over.

it did damage the fender a bit and we had to use mikes truck and a strap to bend the fender back. where my hand is where it folded over. oh yeah and the truck caught plenty of bugs...

soooo.......who got thrown under the bus for next year?
It is still really up in the air at this point. We had a few mentions of people thinking of throwing in but nobody stood out and volunteered for the torch yet.

Sorry bout the tire explosion. Camping World sells a nice item that tells us when tire pressure changes so we don't drive on under inflated tires. Its a life saver really. The brains of this can handle all trailer and truck tires on one panel too. The sender just screws on the schrader valve and is not throwing the tire out of balance either.
