Even if I get my transmission in with no problem to running fast enough I still might bow out. I remember the WV mountains being a little brutal towing. It might be easier for us to ride 76 across PA then drop down around Cincinnati. The wifey is also talking of leaving Friday even and trying to sight see a little on the way down over a couple days.
The worst of it is the stretch of 68 going through MD. Specifically coming up out of Cumberland Md. you literally are climbing from the Potomac river to the eastern continental divide in one-ish big pull. Last one is cheat mountain dropping into Morgantown. It is literally down hill from there. It's up and down a lot but nothing brutal. Coming back there are a couple good ones coming up out of charleston wv but toward clarksburg. But there are breaks in between.

I don't know. Maybe I'm not bothered by it because I grew up in it.

Having traveled to rallies in PA from KY on both the above routes..... I would not run through WV/MD again. From PA, I'd run east to 70 in OH then down from Columbus to Cincinnati. Having hauled my camper through that route, it was much more manageable with an IDI under the hood. Gotta remember it is a completely different ball game when you have a big load on the rig going through the mountains.

Not trying to tell you guys what to do or pretend to be an expert.... but been there and just giving my experience.

Traveling empty... I'd have zero problem going through the WV/MD route..... However, if I were hauling a camper.... not again. LOL

We will know soon enough.

LOL

I looked and looked for a good used piece and it was either new money or needed work or was about to need work. As much as I don't want to spend the money, I also don't want another project right now. It's a palace compared to what I grew up camping in.

Like I said, I'm sacrificing a little to get lighter but if it's a beast to tow, it's just another reason to not use it. I want reasons to use it.

With all the work you have done, your truck should pull that fine. I pulled a similar size and weight with a 360 V-8 Durango, which as expected killed the transmission. I then switched to he Excursion and it was a pleasure to pull. You should really like that camper.

I would definitely go the PA route. We take the turnpike to the New Stanton exit and then 70 west to Columbus. 68/79 is beautiful but very torturous indeed.

Bringing this back to the top since we are getting close. If anyone wants to bow in, bow out, or propose changes now is your chance. We are about two and a half weeks away.

I'm still in assuming no major truck issues come up. I am taking it to Norwalk, OH for the roadkill zip tie drags on Friday. Its 400 miles for me each direction. Figure that will be a good run to shake out any PRTJs.

Oh man, I wish I could go to see the roadkill guys. Far as I know Tyler from CT is still in. Unless my truck blow's up I'm going.

Rob, should we do another route plan on Google maps? You made a good plan before but some spots were still up in the air.

Yeah, I can put another one together if you want. It seems like there were some discrepancies up by you in the one I had before. My latest one is in this post https://www.oilburners.net/posts/944320/
Give it a look and if its wrong pm me some intersections or addresses up by you and ill update it. Looks like I'll at least be pulling the retail circle stop out.

I'll look it over on the computer at my shop tomorrow, it's just easier to see.

I know there are a few different ways for me to get to PA, but from there isn't there just one good way to go?

Hey I'm in however you guys want to go! I think someone said something about going out the pa turnpike if someone is towing. I know Chris and I will both be unloaded so we can go however you guys want.
