Who is Governor Springs? And should we be bringing politics into this?......

(Sorry.......)

Oh I have no doubt an IDI, even a lifted 2WDer, might do fine in Baja. They could even start a whole competitor class devoted to lifted 2WD diesel pickups. It's just of little to no meaning in the real world of IDI ownership. I'm sure the truck in question is a fine $1K-ish truck. But it's a 2WD automatic. That needs tires. And work. Nothing wrong with throwing all that info into a $1000-1200 offer.

there is a member here who has taken his truck on the baja 1000. As a chase truck. Not only did he have to make it, he carried the parts to fix the race vehicle.

EVERYONE!!!!!! FOR THE LAST TIME.....BE NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I meant in the actual race. Good for them and I don't mean to start anything but I feel everyone's been pretty nice. Just my opinion though.

Read up on steering geometry, death wobble, and give the FAQ's and tech forum a look before you go look at it. Watch a few videos on death wobble to see what a bad setup can do and just how quick it can get out of hand.

Anytime I look at buying a used vehicle I generally estimate that I'll be putting at least the purchase price into it to bring it up to my standards. Everything has to be working and I have to feel comfortable driving it cross country tomorrow. There are probably better options out there and more may pop up in the future but if you decide to buy this one at least you're going into it with various opinions from those more well-versed. Good luck with it and share some pictures of it. Especially the front suspension.

Back on actual topic, let us know when you get a chance to look at closer, the more pictures (or even videos) you can put on here, the better we can help you get an idea of what needs to be replaced and repaired, looks like you're looking at a real big project but I'm just glad you're motivated enough to tackle it, wish more people your age had an interest in these old trucks! Hope the surgery goes well...

Hope everything works out with it you'll have to post it here once you get it. But I had one question for you. I don't get how it starts right up if the glow plug harness needs replaced........ unless it's plugged in all the time?:dunno

I hope you get some good physical therapy post-surgery--it made a big difference in my recovery. Plus you might get lucky and end up with a cute female therapist working on your leg--that never hurts!

You all are gonna hate the truck more, but he used starter spray like once a day or so. Im against it aswell but aslong as it did no damage it should be fine, and i wont be doing that, im doing the glow plug wiring at home and until thats done, i can plug it in
