Not that anyone will see this side of the forum... but.....
Well we've decided to sell the jetta back to VW.
Yesterday we came home with this.
After VW buys back the jetta and pays off the loan($8,000), we'll get almost $7,000. Was $349/month.
We'll put $5,000 down on this, finance the rest (just $5,000 that we'll finance) at $200/month for 36 months. Which will be pretty easy to pay off before that.
We didn't even plan on coming home with anything yesterday, but this was such a deal and we both really liked it.
But it's a 2011 suburban. Z71 package, leather, 5.3, 6 speed auto, etc, etc, etc

Why did you let the Jetta go? and why did you replace it with a gas hog? You must of taken an awful beating to get out from under the Jetta like that?

Ours was great, but from a financial standpoint, we did the best thing we could do.
And yes, we'll take a hit on fuel economy. But the jetta was only getting mid 30's with a tune. I literally just did the timing belt about 5k miles ago. New tires last year.
But for us, this makes more sense. More room for the little one, and ones to come in the future. Lol

And I've always had a soft spot for chevy anyways. 5

Generally, the best thing you can do financially,is to keep the vehicle you bought, for as long as you possibly can, right up until the point a major failure would exceed the cost of the vehicle and then and only then, rebuy.
You want to buy and drive only what you need to get by with (preferably) because vehicles depreciate in value so badly. You probably could of done much better selling the Jetta on your own rather than let the dealership buy it back.If you figure out your cost and your loses, you'll probably see the Jetta now cost you a huge amount of money per year to own in.Had you kept it and driven it into the ground, the cost per mile or year at least, would of been drastically, lower making it much more affordable and financially wiser to keep the car.
Not only did you take a beating on the car, making the cost per mile, huge, but then you turned around and bought a more expensive to operate vehicle that just don't need yet and probably never will need over a Jetta inside the next decade, even if you have two more children.
You want to try and make financial decisions which not only, don't cost you more but ones that can make you money instead.
You may not agree today but I hope in another 5-10 years you'll look back and see the mistake. Some people never see their past mistakes so they keep making them.
Anyway,I'm not trying to beat ya up.I just feel your recent decision will lead to making your life harder not easier.
Live and learn from mistakes but there's one financial learning curve which you should never learn from the School of hard knocks and that's just keep ensuring your enrolled into a matching retirement fund at work and no matter what happens in life, short of if it means you die,Literally.Don't ever touch it and don't ever stop contributing to it as much as you absolutely can.Should anything happen where it comes to something else or making at the very least,a reasonable set and firm goal to your 401k,never bank on the something else unless you know for a fact death is the result if you don't.
Anyway,I hope someday you'll look back on this with deep regret.I'll stop cheering ya up now.:D

You will like that 'burb..... Buddy has a older one, and really like is, it an 06-08 I think. With a family you will like having the room. My Excursion is by far the best family vehicle I've ever owned.... which is why the September, I will have owned it for 10 years.....

I do have a slightly less expensive daily driver now... the 07 P71, it get just slightly better gas mileage on my commute, but the routine maintenance is less. With the burb being a gasser, you have that to your advantage.... Enjoy the new ride......

Yep. What they say on opinions is very true here.
Many times we have other children with us. When the car seat takes up over 1/3 of the back seat in the jetta, plus have to move the seat forwards that it's behind making the person in the front cramped.

I can also guarantee you that no private buyer could match what VW is giving us.

We're only paying $2000 more than what we currently owed on the jetta, but going to a much cheaper payment.

There's no ifs, ands, or buts on this one being the better deal.

She had already said no to a minivan. Lol
I'm thinking it was used as a business type vehicle.
Has the two roof tv's, both still have the protective plastic on them.

Did the oil, spark plugs, and air filter.
Also picked up the Wagner oex pads that I'll put on tomorrow.

It doesn't have the infamous 5.3 tick, some that's a plus.

IMHO you will be happy with the room / ride trade off on fuel economy. The 5.3 has cylinder deactivation. I forget all of the caveats for it to kick in (been almost 5 years since I was selling Chevys) but if you keep your foot out of it you should see 18 - 22 highway. Z71 was offered in two packages - one was appearance only (wheels, emblem, and dash cluster) The other got you the underbody skid plates, different rear gear and shocks.

Gorgeous truck, you did good. Car seats definitely take up more than one spot in a vehicle! Congrats

The moding bug is itching real bad. Lol

I have fixed a few little things on it.
The rear washer sprayer didn't work, literally almost every connection was unhooked. Lol

Had the p0011 code that would intermittently show up. Went away with the oil change. Yes, I'll keep paying $150 for 5 gallons of this oil. Lol

Oddly, it didn't come factory with the cabin filter, but I'll be adding that soon.
