How does the power feel compared to your banks system? You said even at 15psi it cleans up all your smoke, right?

the exhaust is almost smoke free. around town driving I can feel a power increase. I think the biggest difference will be on the highway with a load.

here are some pictures of the IC. I have taken it on the highway a few times and it seems to run pretty cool. I think once the hood is done it will funnel the air more center on the cooler and might be a little more efficient.

so far the truck is doing good, I have been driving it everyday. the last thing is to finish up the hood.

on another note and something related to the event but not trucks or diesels.

this is something I have had for about 7 years and never rode before, until last week I was finally able to drive it around my shop lot. a good friend of my dad gave it to me on my 16th birthday and it needed some work so it has been apart until now. I still have a few little odds and ends to do but its the most together its been in a long time.

I am sharing this because it and two others will be loaded on my truck and going to Kentucky with us. its a 1980 (8080) shovel head FLH Electra glide.

Awesome work, I am tempted to try copying the mounting you have set up. I have thought about trying to clear the front of my radiator to get some more flow through since I can't run a big mechanical fan on my swap. I have not had a problem so far but would like more of a safety margin.

Sweet bike! It puts mine to shame lol. Mine is a nice daily driver though.

I gotta figure out a way get my Dad's bike to the rally. Can't put it in the bed of the F450 with the 5'er hooked up. Maybe have Missy haul it behind her rig.

Reminds me.... still haven't taken my MC permit test.LOL

so I still have to work on the hood. I have just been driving the truck a lot. I will be repainting the cowl piece. I have it all sanded down and ready for primer.

the question I have, now that I have a fuel pressure gauge I have been looking at it and it seems to be acting funny.

when I start the truck in the morning it stays at 5-6 psi. after a little driving it slowly starts to go lower and lower, and after diving on the highway it will read maybe 1 psi. I did put on a new lift pump but not sure if it might be something else. it has never run out of fuel or began to starve of fuel. I just don't want to have an issue on a long drive.

the first picture is the first start and the second is about 15 min run time.

With my IDI, the fuel pressure was related to how hot the engine was. I suspect that the rubber diaphragm in the pump softened up with heat reducing the pumping efficiency.

like I said it never stalled before. I was going to try my old pump but I never had a gauge on that one so I don't know how well it worked.

Are you running a mechanical pump? I'm still having issues with inconsistent fuel pressure. It's never 0 anymore but it seems to vary between 3 and 8 psi.

yeah its a mechanical pump. at this point I am thinking of installing an electric pump. I just think its wearied the gauge reads .5 psi when hot.

I never really noticed a change in the way my engine ran until it went to negative 1 or 2 psi. I have some doubts that the newer mechanical pumps are as good as the original ones. If I started getting the engine hot, like in the 210 or 220 range my fuel pressure would go to nothing. That was with a Carter lift pump to, much better than the airtex ones they sell.

that's kind of interesting. I guess ill keep running this one and maybe get a better quality one just in case.

on a side note, after adding some fluid to the fan clutch it made a big difference in highway speed engine temps. cant notice a power difference but I can hear it more. I would say its worth doing.

How did you add fluid to the clutch? Ive never heard of these fan clutches being serviceable

There is a thread on it here. Basically you can drill a hole in the front of the clutch where the spring is and add fluid to make it engage more or sooner.

ok so, I finally got a few things done on the truck. I put the cowl piece on along with the OBS washer sprayers and got those plumbed in. it all fit well and the hood and cowl just miss each other. i also finally put on a good used cowl seal, first time i have had one in years.
