I think he is talking about a Bronco II..... the little guy........

I'll quote @IDIoit on this one.... Anything is possible with enough time and money......

My opinion, you want a diesel in a Bronco II, find the rare ranger diesel as a doner, or use a 4BreadTruck engine.... or a Mercedes, or a VW.... a dressed IDI and a ZF-5 probably weigh as much as the drivetrain-less Bronco II would.......

I've seen small blocks 305/350 or 302/351 in an S-10 or Ranger Chassis, but I think a Big Block sized engine would be a stretch..... The Bronco II came with a relatively small 2.9L V-6...... which is even on the small side of the V-6's...... Not saying it can't be done, but it will take more that bailin wire and duct tape......

X 2 on what Snicklas said. While it could probably be done (I do know a guy who said that he helped build a 429 powered Pinto drag car), I wouldn't recommend doing it.

Yeah, tight enough fit with a small block.
Like everyone else, pick another power source.

can it be done maybe. Would i do it? No way. I had swapped a 302 and 351 into my bronco II back when it was still a bronco II. The 351 is a little wider and you run into issues with steering, from the steering wheel to the steering box. Then you have the weight of the thing. The 2.9 is roughly 400 pounds and the 6.9 is going to be 1000! thats just the motor not including the trans and larger cooling system. Then you run into the issue of keeping it cool. You will need a big radiator which will eat up even more space. Your front axle would need to be changed to handle the weight. Might be able to get away with the dana 35 swap. Then after all is said and done you will probably loose MPG. The 6.9 is not an efficient motor. The best i ever got out of mine was 13 mpg with a banks turbo and gear vendor over drive with my c6. The same truck that i swapped in a cummins and a manual the last tank i checked was 20.8 mpg. The manuals do get better MPG with the IDI but still not amazing.

There was a ranger on Craigslist here on 1ton full width axles with a idi and c6 I'm it, it had pictures and everything, it was put mostly together but It labeled as a project still, motor and trans was in they said needs wiring and various odds and ends taken care of before driving but ran and moved, so yes possible but lots of work, radiator was in the bed with eletric fans on it I remember seeing. They called it the ultimate crawler project 7.3 ranger.
