The gas senders had 4 generally. 2 for the float and 2 for the fuel pump. The 84 only had 2 for the sender.

I believe the PSD had an electric fuel pump starting with the "99" model year. I don't remember if it was in the tank or not, but I bet it was.

PSD Electric fuel pumps are on the frame rail. At least the 7.3 and 6.0 PSD's

Frame rail mounted pump in the PSD superduties (1999+) that's a gasser sender probably because new diesel ones are nowhere to be found.

edit: you beat me to it :p

a sender only uses 2 wires.
a feed, and a ground.
as its basically just a coil wound tight.

any more wires going into a sender means that there is an electric fuel pump designed to be attached to them.

I would be deleting ALL of the fuel system, running e-fuel, with a new, single tank, and new fuel lines.

im going to be removing the rear tank and use it as spare tire area and im going to re run the fuel line from the rear tank to a 100 or so gallon jockey tank in the bed

What did you use to lift the cab and how "hard" was it? Needing to do the same on my 87. Working on the dash now and found out they crack easy and the frame is rusty.....
